Fine of 102,471 euros for a citrus company in Elche due to occupational hazards

The Regional Secretariat for Employment and the General Directorate of Labora have ordered the publication of the final sanction of 102,471 euros imposed on the citrus company Medi Mare Fruit, SL, based in Elche (Alicante), for a very serious infringement regarding occupational risk prevention. The resolution, signed on July 21, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV) number 10441, dated September 1, 2026, with reference DOGV-C-2026-26761.

The sanctioning procedure, with case number 032019SAT001106, was initiated via infringement report 32019000212683, issued by the Labor and Social Security Inspectorate of Alicante on November 26, 2019. The sanction became final on July 2, 2026.

The company, dedicated to citrus cultivation and with NIF B54758677, was sanctioned for a very serious infringement as defined in article 13.10 of the consolidated text of the Law on infringements and sanctions in the social order (TRLISOS, approved by Royal Legislative Decree 5/2000). The resolution considers that articles 4.2.d) and 19.1 of the Workers’ Statute, articles 14.1, 15, 17.1, 18.1, and 19.1 of the Law on Occupational Risk Prevention, and articles 3.1.2, 4, 5, 5.1, and 5.2 of Royal Decree 1215/1997 on minimum health and safety requirements for the use of work equipment were violated.

The publication is supported by article 40.2 of the TRLISOS and Royal Decree 597/2007, of May 4, regarding the publication of sanctions for very serious infringements in occupational risk prevention, in relation to Decree 57/2008 of the Consell.

Deadlines and cancellation

The final sanctioning resolution may be challenged before the bodies of the social jurisdictional order within two months from the day following its notification, in accordance with Law 36/2011, of October 10, regulating social jurisdiction. Furthermore, according to article 4.2 of Royal Decree 597/2007, the sanction data will be cancelled five years from the day following its publication.

The resolution is signed by Antonio Galvañ Diez, Regional Secretary for Employment and General Director of Labora, exercising the powers delegated by the regional minister.
