Miranda de Ebro announces two vacancies for piano music teachers

The Miranda de Ebro City Council has approved the rules that will govern the call and selection process to permanently fill, through an open competitive examination system, two vacant positions for music teachers specializing in piano. The agreement was adopted by the Local Government Board on September 8, 2026, and the full text is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Burgos number 180, dated September 22, 2026, in section III. Two permanent labor positions included in the 2026 employment offer

The positions are included in the public employment offer for the year 2026, approved by agreement of the Local Government Board on June 14, 2026, and published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Burgos number 140, dated July 28, 2026. Their characteristics are:

• Typology: labor.
• Level: II.
• Designation: music teacher specializing in piano.
• Number of vacancies: 2.
• Employment contract: permanent labor.
• Form of access: open.
• Access system: competitive examination.
• Remuneration and functions: according to the job position list (RPT).

The number of positions may be increased by decree of the competent body, provided that the vacancies are incorporated into the employment offer and up until the date of the final exercise of the examination. The rules are issued in compliance with articles 172 and 175 of Royal Decree 2568/1986, of November 28, and at the request of a provision from the delegated councilor dated July 28, 2026.

Requirements, application deadline, and fees

Applicants must meet the conditions of article 56 of Legislative Royal Decree 5/2015, of October 30, which approves the revised text of the Law of the Basic Statute of the Public Employee:

• Hold Spanish nationality, without prejudice to the provisions of article 57.
• Possess the functional capacity to perform the tasks.
• Be at least sixteen years of age and not exceed the maximum compulsory retirement age.
• Not have been dismissed through disciplinary proceedings nor be disqualified from public employment.
• Be in possession of, or in a position to obtain by the end of the deadline, the intermediate degree of the ‘66 plan, the higher degree of instrument from the LOGSE, LOE, or LOMLOE, or equivalent, specializing in piano.

Applications shall be addressed to the mayor-president and submitted within twenty business days starting from the day following the publication of the summary of the call announcement in the Official State Gazette. The examination fee is 40 euros, with a 50% discount for unemployed persons with at least six months of seniority, persons with a disability equal to or greater than 33%, victims of terrorism and their spouses and children, and victims of gender-based violence.

Three eliminatory exercises and qualifying board

The competitive examination phase will consist of three mandatory and eliminatory tests:

• First exercise: a written questionnaire of 60 multiple-choice questions (20 from block I, common subjects, and 40 from block II, specific subjects), in 80 minutes; maximum of 12 points and minimum of 6 to pass.
• Second exercise: written development of two topics chosen from three randomly selected from block II, in a maximum of 90 minutes; maximum of 12 points and minimum of 6.
• Third exercise: a practical case study within the context of the usual work of a conservatory teacher or musical performer, in a maximum of 90 minutes; maximum of 12 points and minimum of 6.

The syllabus comprises 60 topics, including one dedicated to the music school of Miranda de Ebro. The order of appearance will begin with applicants whose first surname starts with the letter “B”, in accordance with the resolution of June 29, 2026, of the State Secretariat for Civil Service. The board will be appointed by the Mayor’s Office and will consist of a president, members, and a secretary, with the presence of a representative from each trade union section as an observer.

Appointment, employment pool, and appeals

Following the publication of the provisional list of admitted and excluded candidates, excluded applicants will have ten business days to appeal or rectify their status. The Mayor’s Office must appoint the proposed candidate within one month, and the candidate must take office or join within the following month. An employment pool will also be formed with those who pass the process without being appointed, ordered from highest to lowest score.

An administrative appeal may be filed against the rules and the call for applications before the Administrative Litigation Section of the Court of First Instance of Burgos within two months, or an optional appeal for reversal before the City Council of Miranda de Ebro within one month. The rules are signed by the mayor-president, Aitana Hernando Ruiz, in Miranda de Ebro on September 9, 2026.

The call opens a stable path of public employment for piano teachers and reinforces the staff of the municipal music school, a service with sustained demand in the town. For the candidates, the process requires preparing a syllabus of 60 topics and passing three eliminatory tests, with an application period that begins after the publication of the announcement in the Official State Gazette.
