Miranda de Ebro opens the tenth call for grants for trade in the historic center

The Miranda de Ebro City Council has approved the guidelines for the 10th call for municipal grants for the regeneration of the city’s historic center and the food market (plaza de abastos). The agreement was adopted by the Local Government Board in its session on September 8, 2026, and the summary is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Burgos number 179, dated Monday, September 21, 2026, with the official reference BOPBUR-2026-03883 and the National Grants Database identifier 928304. Applications may be submitted within 15 calendar days starting from the day following the publication of the announcement.

Purpose and scope of the grants

The subsidies are non-repayable financial grants intended to finance investments, works, or renovations for the opening of new activities and their equipment, as well as the modernization, expansion, conditioning, and improvement of equipment for existing commercial or professional facilities.

• Scope: historic center of Miranda de Ebro and commercial premises in the food market.
• Delimitation of the historic center: that established in the Special Interior Reform Plan (P.E.R.I.) “Historic Ensemble of Miranda de Ebro”, definitively approved by the City Council Plenary on October 2, 2003.
• Eligible expenses: works or renovations for the opening or modernization of premises and the equipment elements listed in the fourth clause of the guidelines.

Who can apply and who is excluded

Beneficiaries may include self-employed workers and small and medium-sized retail enterprises (SMEs), whether natural or legal persons, with a tax domicile in Miranda de Ebro and whose subsidized actions are carried out during 2026 in existing or newly created establishments located in the historic center or the food market.

The following are expressly excluded:

• Large distribution companies and the societies or groups to which they belong.
• Companies with activities under specific regulation, such as pharmacies, gas stations, or tobacco shops.
• Those dedicated to the marketing of products linked to the contracting of services, such as telephony and communications.
• Bars and restaurants, except when, due to their location within the commercial space of the food market, they serve as a complement or consumer attraction for the activities installed there.

Amounts, credit, and submission of applications

The amount allocated for the 2026 financial year is 15,000 euros. The grant may reach up to 80% of the eligible investment, with a maximum of 3,000 euros per commercial premise, and in all cases, VAT is excluded. If the same economic activity is carried out in several premises physically joined to each other, the applicant may opt for a maximum grant of 3,000 euros.

The application shall be addressed to the Mayoress-President of the Most Excellent City Council of Miranda de Ebro, Aitana Hernando Ruiz, and shall be submitted via the electronic registry, which is mandatory for legal entities, or at the City Council’s Citizen Service Office (SAC), accompanied by the documentation detailed in the eleventh clause. The call for applications is based on articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17, and reaches its tenth edition, consolidating an established instrument of support for small businesses in Miranda. For merchants in the old town and the food market, the announcement opens a window of barely two weeks to decide and formalize their renovation or equipment projects before the deadline expires.
