Mataró announces twelve senior technician positions for internal promotion

The Mataró City Council has approved the specific rules and announced the selection process to fill twelve positions for senior technician, group A1, of the labor staff, through a competitive examination via the internal promotion access route. The decision is contained in decree 11311/2026, of September 18, signed by the delegated councillor for Good Governance, Good Management and Future Strategy, Miquel Àngel Vadell Torres. The announcement was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona on September 22, 2026, with the official reference CVE 202610142634 and file 2026/000039504.

The positions are included in the Public Employment Offer for the year 2026 and will be filled with contracts as permanent labor staff. The process is governed by the specific rules now approved and by the general rules regulating the selection processes for the temporary and definitive filling of positions in the municipal staff, approved by the Plenary of April 7, 2022 (BOPB 04/28/2022) and modified by the Plenary of December 1, 2022 (BOPB 12/09/2022).

In accordance with the thirtieth additional provision of Legislative Decree 1/1997, of October 31, the call incorporates additional positions to cover future internal promotion vacancies from the public offers of 2026, 2027, and 2028, which will be awarded in the year of their merit to applicants who have passed the process without obtaining a position.

Destinations of the twelve positions

• 5 positions in the Citizen Services Area (codes 31324 to 31328).
• 3 positions in the Urban and Economic Development Area: 2 in the City and Trade Promotion Service and 1 in the Employment Service (codes 31329, 31330, and 31331).
• 1 position in the General Administration Area (code 4016).
• 1 position in the Urban Ecology Area, Urban Services directorate (code 31323).
• 1 position in the Public Safety Area.
• 1 position in Management.

The identifying codes for the twelve positions are 4016, 31288, and 31323 to 31332, and the assignment to the workplace is that of specialized support technician.

Requirements and conditions of the position

• Be permanent labor staff at the Mataró City Council in a position of subgroup A2.
• Provide proof of an academic degree, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent.
• Possess knowledge of Catalan equivalent to the C1 proficiency level.
• Have paid the registration fee for the corresponding category.

The remunerations provided for in the current list of workplaces are a base salary for group A1 of 2,070.70 euros and a specific supplement of 1,240.48 euros, plus other supplements according to the current labor staff agreement.

Phases of the selection process

The selection system is a competitive examination-contest in the internal promotion modality. The examination phase assesses up to 36 points: a Catalan language test of an eliminatory nature (pass or fail), a theoretical and practical multiple-choice test with four response alternatives (maximum 30 points and minimum 15 to pass), and a psychological evaluation of competencies and personality (maximum 6 points, non-eliminatory). The contest phase, which is not eliminatory, adds up to 18 points: training (7), professional experience (7), and other merits (4).

The technical selection body will consist of a president and technical members from the Mataró City Council, a specialist member from another administration appointed by the Escola d’Administració Pública de Catalunya, and a secretary from the Human Resources and Organization Directorate. The president of the Works Council may attend as an observer, with a voice but without a vote.

Deadline for submission of applications

The deadline for submitting applications is 20 calendar days starting from the day after the publication of the call in the DOGC. If any allegation against the specific rules is upheld during this period, a new deadline for submitting applications will be opened. The announcement is published in the BOPB, as an extract in the DOGC, on the municipal website, and through other usual dissemination channels.

The call opens an internal promotion route for the permanent contractual staff of subgroup A2 of the Mataró City Council and reinforces twelve technical positions in key areas such as citizen services, economic development, urban ecology, and public safety. Interested persons must follow the publication in the DOGC to calculate the exact deadline for submitting applications.
