Malgrat de Mar opens competitive examination for three Local Police positions

The City Council of Malgrat de Mar has opened the selection process to fill three Local Police officer positions by open competition, after the Local Government Board approved the rules in an ordinary session on 6 August 2026. The rules have been published in full in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Barcelona of 13 August 2026, with reference CVE 202610133315, and an extract will be published in the Official Journal of the Government of Catalonia.

The three positions, vacant on the civil servant staff list and included in the 2026 Public Employment Offer, correspond to group C, subgroup C1, Special Administration scale, Basic subscale, Agent class, and entail appointment as career civil servants. In addition, under the thirtieth additional provision of Legislative Decree 1/1997, three additional positions are added to cover future vacancies, charged to the public employment offers of the following two financial years. In accordance with the eighth additional provision of Law 16/1991, on local police, one of the positions is reserved for women, with the aim that 40% of the positions be occupied by women.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted electronically, signed with a digital certificate or with idCAT Mòbil, at the City Council’s electronic office (www.ajmalgrat.cat), within the non-extendable period of 20 business days counted from the day after the last publication of the call in the BOP or the DOGC. Applicants must pay €11.45 in exam fees and attach, among other documents, the official medical certificate, the qualification and the curriculum vitae.

• Hold Spanish nationality and have turned 18.
• Hold the baccalaureate, technical or equivalent qualification.
• Hold driving licences of classes A and B.
• Prove Catalan language knowledge at level B2.
• Have a minimum height of 1.60 m (women) or 1.70 m (men).
• Assume the commitment to carry weapons and have no criminal record.

A two-phase process with four tests

The competitive examination phase consists of four compulsory and eliminatory tests:

• Cultural knowledge: a 25-question multiple-choice questionnaire in 45 minutes (50% general and municipal culture, 50% current affairs), with a minimum of 5 points.
• Physical fitness: 20-metre shuttle run, 50-metre sprint, front plank and medicine ball throw (5 kg for men and 3 kg for women).
• Catalan language: level B2 test from the CPNL, with exemptions for those who already hold the certification.
• Psychotechnical test: an 80-question aptitude test and a subtest on personality and psycho-professional suitability with an interview.

In the second phase, applicants who pass the selection process must undergo medical tests, the basic police training course at the Institut de Seguretat Pública de Catalunya and a twelve-month internship period in the municipality, regulated by Resolution of the Mayor’s Office 2024/748.

Remuneration conditions

According to the current job classification, the annual amounts for 2026 are as follows:

• Base salary for group C1: €12,364.40
• Post allowance (level 16): €6,128.22
• Specific allowance: €21,504.56
• Extended working hours allowance: €3,117.36

During the basic training course, trainee staff without prior employment with the City Council will receive the base salary, seniority increments and extra payments of subgroup C1, plus the level 16 destination allowance. The guidelines, signed by the mayoress Sònia Viñolas Mollfulleda on 10 August 2026, provide that successful candidates without a position will remain on a list to cover future vacancies for two years.

The call is a significant opportunity for candidates in the Maresme region: up to six positions could be filled from the same process (three from the 2026 OPO and three more for future vacancies), with permanent civil servant positions, remuneration exceeding €43,000 per year and specialised training at the Institut de Seguretat Pública de Catalunya.
