Majaelrayo pone al cobro la tasa de basura y el impuesto de vehículos

The Mayor-President of the Majaelrayo City Council, Sonia Atienza del Cura, has ordered the collection of the waste collection fee and the mechanical traction vehicle tax for the 2026 fiscal year during the voluntary payment period. The announcement, signed in Majaelrayo on October 6, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Guadalajara (BOP) No. 207, corresponding to Thursday, October 29, 2026, in the city council announcements section, titled “Collection Period for Various 2026 Taxes” (reference 2026_2821).

Two municipal receipts open for collection

The announcement, disseminated “for general knowledge” through the notification mechanism used by the Mayor’s Office, details that two documents are being put up for collection:

  • 2026 Waste Collection Fee, the receipt for the municipal waste collection service.
  • 2026 Mechanical Traction Vehicle Tax, the tax levied on the ownership of vehicles registered in the municipality.

Both settlements correspond to the 2026 fiscal year and are issued within the collection calendar established by the council itself for periodically due taxes. The text does not include specific amounts or registries: it is limited to communicating the opening of the period and the accepted payment methods, meaning that the amounts will be known upon the individual notification received by each owner.

From October 30 to December 30

The voluntary payment period extends from October 30 to December 30, 2026, both inclusive according to the terms of the announcement. During this interval, those obligated to pay can settle their receipts through ordinary channels without any surcharge.

The City Council enables payment via the notification that the taxpayer receives at their home, depositing the amount in any of the banking entities indicated in the document itself; the announcement explicitly mentions Ibercaja as a collaborating entity.

For doubts or clarifications, the council refers to the Auxiliary Offices located in Madrid, Téllez street number 18, with service from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., or by telephone at 91 501 61 00 during the same hours.

Direct debit on December 2

Residents who have these taxes set up for direct debit do not need to take any action: on December 2, 2026, the charge will be made to the bank accounts of all municipality residents who have domiciled the waste fee and the vehicle tax. Therefore, anyone with a direct debit must ensure that there is sufficient balance in the associated account on that date, as the reversal of the charge could lead to executive collection proceedings.

Demand, interest, and costs

Once the voluntary payment period has expired without payment having been made, the City Council will initiate the executive enforcement procedure in accordance with the provisions of the current General Collection Regulations. In this phase, the collection of unpaid fees will proceed with the corresponding surcharge, as well as late payment interest and any applicable costs, as literally warned in the announcement signed by the mayor.

The executive procedure may also entail the seizure of the debtor’s assets or rights if non-payment persists, under the terms established by the state collection regulations invoked as the framework in the announcement.

Impact for residents

The notification published in the BOP no. 207 on October 29, 2026, affects all taxpayers in the municipality, as both taxes are of general and periodic collection: the waste tax levies the waste collection service provided by the City Council, and the vehicle tax applies to all owners of passenger cars and other vehicles registered in Majaelrayo. The coincidence of the voluntary period with the direct debit on December 2 makes that date the practical reference for residents, who have just over two months from the publication to regularize their situation without surcharges. Anyone who does not make the payment before December 30 will face the enforcement surcharge and added interest and costs, with the resulting increase in the debt to the council.
