The measure is approved by the Decree of October 22, 2026, from the delegate of the Government Area of Social Policies, Family and Equality, José Fernández Sánchez, and its summary is published in the OFFICIAL GAZETTE OF THE COMMUNITY OF MADRID number 255, of October 26, 2026, with reference BOCM-20261026-68 and identification in the National Grants Database BDNS 937369.
Beneficiaries and purpose of the call
Parents who have had one or more children and persons who have adopted one or more minors may apply for the aid, provided they are registered as residents (empadronados) in the municipality of Madrid. The purpose is the granting of financial aid for births or adoptions of minors up to five years of age occurring within a specific time frame:
- From September 1, 2026, to December 31, 2027, both dates inclusive.
- Minors up to five years of age at the time of the triggering event.
The call is supported by the Ordinance of General Regulatory Bases for the granting of Grants by the Madrid City Council and its Public Bodies, approved by agreement of the Plenary on October 30, 2013, and published in the OFFICIAL GAZETTE OF THE COMMUNITY OF MADRID number 278, of November 22, 2013, as well as by Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Grants.
Amounts: 500, 750 and 1,000 euros per child
The aid is paid in a single payment and its amount increases according to the order of the child or adopted minor:
- 500 euros for the first child born or adopted.
- 750 euros for the second.
- 1,000 euros for the third or subsequent children.
The total amount allocated to the call is 4,665,000 euros for the 2026 fiscal year and 10,736,777 euros for the 2027 fiscal year. Additionally, the credits may be increased by a maximum additional amount of 5,000,000 euros to meet the needs that arise throughout the period, provided that adequate and sufficient budgetary availability exists.
Two-month deadline and four resolutions
The deadline for submitting applications is two months starting from the day following the birth or adoption of the minor. For births or adoptions occurring from September 1, 2026, inclusive, and prior to the publication of the call, the count of those two months begins the day after the publication of the summary.
The processing corresponds to the General Directorate of Family and Childhood and the resolution to the delegate of the Government Area of Social Policies, Family and Equality. The call will be resolved in four batches:
- First, for applications submitted by December 31, 2026, with 4,665,000 euros and resolution in the first four-month period of 2027.
- Second, from January 1 to April 30, 2027, with 3,578,925.67 euros and resolution in the second four-month period of 2027.
- Third, from May 1 to August 31, 2027, with 3,578,925.67 euros and resolution in the third four-month period of 2027.
- Fourth, from September 1, 2027, to February 29, 2028, with 3,578,925.66 euros and resolution in the first four-month period of 2028.
If there is a remainder after awarding the grants of each resolution, it may be applied to the following resolution.
Publication, payment, and collaborating entity
The resolutions will be published in the Official Gazette of the Madrid City Council, without prejudice to their dissemination on the municipal website, and information regarding the granted subsidies will be sent to the National Subsidy Database, in accordance with Article 18 of Law 38/2003. The instructing body will act through a collaborating entity, according to Article 12 of the same regulation, and it will be this entity that pays the amount via transfer to the bank account indicated by the beneficiary in the application.
The impact of the call reaches all families registered in the capital with young children, who have a limited period—two months from the triggering event or from the publication—to claim a direct payment that can reach 1,000 euros for the third child and subsequent children. The opening of four staggered resolutions until 2028 allows for the anticipation of the payment schedule according to the date the application is submitted.
