León submits the modification of water tariffs to public consultation
Por FactBox Admin

The León City Council has opened a thirty-business-day public information period to modify Article 7 of the ordinance regulating the rates for drinking water, sewerage, and complementary services of the municipality. The agreement was adopted by the municipal Plenary in an ordinary session on September 25, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of León on Thursday, October 8, 2026, under reference BOP-LE-2026-192006.
The announcement, signed in León on October 2, 2026, by the acting mayor Vicente Canuria Atienza, records the initial approval of the modification of Article 7 (amount) of the current “Non-tax ordinance regulating the rates for the provision of domestic drinking water supply, sewerage, and other complementary services and activities provided in the municipality of León.” This is, therefore, the provision that sets the amounts paid by users of the integrated water cycle in the Leonese capital.
The file is processed in accordance with Article 49(b) of Law 7/1985, of April 2, Regulating the Bases of the Local Regime, which requires that ordinances initially approved by the Plenary be submitted for public information and hearing of interested parties before their final approval.
Thirty business days to file objections
The public exhibition period is thirty business days and is calculated from the day following the publication of the announcement in the Official Gazette of the Province of León. During this period, any interested party may examine the file and submit any claims and suggestions they deem appropriate.
The announcement warns that if no claim or suggestion is submitted within the indicated period, the agreement will be definitively adopted as it was provisionally approved, without the need for a new municipal agreement. In other words, the modification of Article 7 would enter into force without passing through the Plenary again if there are no objections.
Where and when to consult the file
In-person consultation takes place at the Asset Management offices of the León City Council, located at avenida de Ordoño II, number 10, second floor, of the Leonese capital. The available hours are Monday to Friday, on business days, from 9:00 to 14:00 hours.

Other water-related procedures in the same bulletin
Issue number 192 of the Official Gazette of the Province of León concentrates other announcements related to water taxes in municipalities of the province. The Soto y Amío City Council presents to the public the tax rolls for the domestic water supply of Camposalinas, Canales-La Magdalena, Garaño, and Santovenia de San Marcos for the first and second quarters of 2026, approved by agreement of the Governing Board on September 29, 2026 (BOP-LE-2026-192011).
For its part, the Villarejo de Órbigo City Council publishes the taxpayer roll for the domestic drinking water distribution, domestic waste collection, and sewerage service taxes for the second quarter of 2026, approved by resolution of the Mayor’s Office on October 2, 2026 (BOP-LE-2026-192012).
Impact for subscribers
The revision of article 7 of the ordinance directly affects the water bill of all subscribers in the municipality of León, as this provision determines the amount of the tariffs applicable to domestic supply, sewerage, and complementary services and activities. This procedure opens the only formal window for citizen participation before the modification is finalized: those who wish to influence the amounts or their structure must submit their allegations within the thirty business days following the publication of the announcement.
