The Insurance Pricing Monitoring Office is renewed

King Philippe signed, on September 10, 2026, a royal decree appointing the chairperson, the deputy chairperson, and the members of the Insurance Pricing Monitoring Office. This text, published in the Belgian Official Gazette of September 16, 2026 (p. 50382), renews the composition of this central advisory body for the supervision of insurance tariffs in Belgium.
The decree, referenced [C − 2026/006775], is issued in application of Article 217, § 2, of the Law of April 4, 2014, on insurance, as amended by the law of October 26, 2015. It replaces the royal decree of July 31, 2020, which established the previous composition of the Office, and enters into force on the day of its publication in the Belgian Official Gazette.
A Renewed Leadership
The Office is entrusted to Bruno Bulthé, appointed as chairperson, assisted by André De Muylder as deputy chairperson. The appointment complies with the double-list presentation provided for by the Law of July 20, 1990, aimed at promoting a balanced presence of men and women in advisory bodies, with the exception of patient representative associations, whose specific mission does not allow for such a presentation.
Full Members
The full members represent the three categories of interests concerned by insurance pricing:
- Insurance companies: Martine Vanden Wijngaert and Jean-Claude De Pooter;
- Consumers: Billy-Ray Muraille;
- Patients: Christine Jenetzky.
Alternate Members
The alternate members ensure the continuity of the Office’s work in the event that the full members are unavailable:
- Insurance companies: Michel Pôlet and Sammy Bogaert;
- Consumers: Daniella Verbruggen;
- Patients: Kenou Van Rijckevorsel.
A Strategic Supervisory Body
The royal decree was proposed jointly by the Minister of Economy, D. Clarinval, the Minister of Public Health, F. Vandenbroucke, and the Minister of Justice, A. Verlinden, with the latter’s agreement given on April 29, 2026. The Pricing Monitoring Office, established by the law of April 4, 2014, is responsible for monitoring the evolution of insurance tariffs and providing opinions on their adequacy, a major issue for Belgian policyholders.
For consumers and patients, this renewal guarantees the continuity of independent monitoring of insurance premiums, in a context where the pricing of health and civil liability risks remains a sensitive subject. The presence of patient and consumer representatives alongside insurance companies ensures a balance of interests within a body whose opinions inform the decisions of regulatory authorities.
