Álava publishes the collective agreement of Voestalpine Railway Systems for 2026-2028

The Official Gazette of the Historical Territory of Álava (BOTHA), in issue number 101 on Friday, September 4, 2026, publishes the resolution by which the collective agreement and social pact of the company Voestalpine Railway Systems Jez SL for the years 2026, 2027, and 2028 is registered and published. The resolution, signed on July 24, 2026, in Vitoria-Gasteiz by the territorial delegate of Labor and Social Security of Álava, Ibon López Aldaz, corresponds to the Department of Economy, Labor and Employment of the Basque Government and bears the agreement code 01100161012013.
The text, signed by the business representation and the social representation at the negotiating table, applies exclusively to the Llodio workplace and regulates the conditions of hundreds of workers in the railway sector. The jurisdiction for its registration is supported by article 90.2 of the revised text of the Workers’ Statute Law and article 18.2.g of Decree 323/2024, of November 5.
Working Hours and Salaries
The agreement sets an annual working day of 1,680 effective hours throughout its validity, with a maximum of 9 hours per day and 40 hours per week, and establishes a pool of up to 32 annual hours to handle emergencies or production peaks. Vacations will be 30 calendar days (21 working days), with bonuses of 350 and 250 euros depending on the month of enjoyment.
Regarding remuneration, the 2026 salary tables incorporate an increase of 3.5 percent over 2025. For 2027 and 2028, salaries will increase by the actual CPI of the CAPV from the previous year plus one percentage point, with an annual cap of 5.5 percent and a cumulative limit of 14.5 percent over the tables in effect as of December 31, 2025.
- Salary groups: B.2, B.3, B.4, B.5, C.1, C.2, C.3, C.4, and C.5.
- Total annual guaranteed without seniority in 2026: from 34,388.69 euros (group B.2) to 51,353.99 euros (group C.5).
- Night shift bonus: 30.00 euros per full night.
- Seniority bonus: 5 percent of the base salary per five-year period.
Social Protection and Work-Life Balance
The agreement reinforces social benefits with a collective life and accident insurance, temporary disability supplements of up to 75 percent of the regulatory base for illness and 91 percent for accidents, and an extraordinary performance-based payment equivalent to 12.5 percent of net profits. It also includes study grants, an annual fund of 5,000 euros for children with special needs, and a mandatory retirement clause at age 68 linked to generational replacement.
Regarding work-life balance, it includes paid leave, leaves of absence for childcare, and a special voluntary leave of up to one month during the summer period for the care of children under 8 years old. Furthermore, the company commits to signing replacement contracts for partial retirement in the manufacturing industry.
Validity and Dispute Resolution
The agreement shall be considered automatically denounced two months prior to its expiration and shall be extended indefinitely regarding provisions without a determined validity period until a new agreement is reached. A joint monitoring commission is established as an interpretive body, and collective disputes shall be subject to the extrajudicial resolution procedure of the Basque Autonomous Community (PRECO). For matters not provided for herein, the Provincial Agreement of the Iron and Steel Industry of Álava and the Workers’ Statute shall apply.
Publication in the BOTHA grants regulatory effectiveness to the agreement and guarantees its application to the entire workforce of the Llodio center, an industrial benchmark of the railway sector in the historical territory of Álava.
