La Universidad de Zaragoza nombra cuatro nuevos profesores titulares

The University of Zaragoza has formalized the appointment of four new associate professors, who are joining their respective departments after passing the competitive access examinations. The decision was made by the institution’s Rectorate and published in the Official Gazette of Aragon number 201, dated October 16, 2026, via the Resolution of October 1, 2026 (official reference BOA20261016003), within section II, Authorities and Personnel.

The regulatory framework of the appointments

The appointments are adopted in accordance with the proposals formulated by the commissions tasked with judging the competitive access examinations for university teaching positions, convened by the resolution of the University of Zaragoza dated June 16, 2026, and published in the Official State Gazette number 155, dated June 26, 2026.

The Rectorate acts in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 50 of Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, on the University System; Article 35 of Royal Decree 678/2023, of July 18, which regulates state accreditation for access to university teaching bodies and the regime of access competitions; and Article 83 of the Statutes of the University of Zaragoza, approved by Decree 23/2025, of February 28, of the Government of Aragon.

The resolution was signed in Zaragoza on October 1, 2026, by the rector, Rosa María Bolea Bailo. This is the third batch of appointments of this type published by the institution in the last month, following the Resolution of September 21, 2026, published on October 2, which incorporated three teachers, and the individual resolutions disseminated on October 7 and 13.

The four new associate professors

The annex of the resolution details the appointed personnel, along with their area of knowledge and assigned department:

  • Raquel Langarita Tejero, from the area of Fundamentals of Economic Analysis, assigned to the department of Economic Analysis.
  • Celeste Marcela León Moreno, from the area of Developmental and Educational Psychology, assigned to the department of Psychology and Sociology.
  • Jorge Ortín Gracia, from the area of Telematics Engineering, assigned to the department of Electronic Engineering and Communications.
  • Luis Vicente Borruel, from the area of Signal Theory and Communications, assigned to the department of Electronic Engineering and Communications.

Two of the four positions correspond to the field of telecommunications engineering, which accounts for half of the appointments, while the other two are split between Economics and Psychology.

Assumption of office and deadlines

The appointments shall take full effect upon the corresponding assumption of office by the interested parties, which must take place within a maximum period of twenty business days counting from the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official State Gazette.

The resolution exhausts the administrative route as provided for in article 38.4 of Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, on the University System. The following may be filed against it:

  • A contentious-administrative appeal before the High Court of Justice of Aragon, within a period of two months from the day following its publication in the Official State Gazette, pursuant to article 10.1.a) of Law 29/1998, of July 13, regulating the Contentious-Administrative Jurisdiction.
  • A request for reversal (recurso de reposición) before the same body, within a period of one month, in which case a contentious-administrative appeal may not be filed until an express resolution is issued or a presumed dismissal occurs, according to articles 30.4, 123, and 124 of Law 39/2015, of October 1.

Impact on the teaching staff

The publication consolidates the incorporation as career civil servants of four teachers and researchers who become part of the permanent staff of the University of Zaragoza, with direct effects on the teaching load and research activity of the departments of Economic Analysis, Psychology and Sociology, and Electronic Engineering and Communications. The process is part of the renewal of the university staff derived from Organic Law 2/2023 and the new state accreditation regime, which requires passing a competitive access process to stabilize the positions of the teaching bodies.
