La Universidad de La Laguna convoca una plaza de profesorado permanente laboral

The University of La Laguna has announced a public competition, through the ordinary procedure, for the provision of a teaching and research staff position hired under labor law, in the role of Permanent Labor Professor, reserved for the disability quota. The call is formalized by the Resolution of September 21, 2026, of the Vice-Rectorate for Teaching and Research Staff, published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (Boletín Oficial de Canarias) no. 197, of October 1, 2026 (page 35785, reference no. 3391). Interested parties have ten business days, counting from the day following the publication, to submit their application.

The allocation of the position is listed in Annex I of the resolution and corresponds to the 2025 Employment Offer, approved by Resolution of December 11, 2025 (BOC no. 252, of 12.22.2025). The call has the authorization of the General Directorate for Planning, Innovation, and University Quality, dated April 20, 2026, and is governed by Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, on the University System, the recast text of the Law of the Basic Statute of Public Employees, and the Regulation for the development of competitions for access to labor teaching and research staff positions at the University of La Laguna, approved by Resolution of December 23, 2024 (BOC of 1.7.2025) and modified by Resolution of July 28, 2026 (BOC no. 160, of 8.11.2026). The resolution bears the signature of Vice-Rector Alfonso Ruiz Rallo.

A single position in the area of Sculpture

Annex I details the characteristics of the announced position:

  • Department: Fine Arts.
  • Knowledge area: Sculpture.
  • Position code: DL0235.
  • Category: Permanent Labor Professor (PPL).
  • Dedication: full-time.
  • Center: Faculty of Fine Arts.
  • Activities to be performed: teaching and research in the area of Sculpture.
  • Contract duration: as established in article 82 of Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, on the University System.

The contract will be of an indefinite nature and with full-time dedication, with the probationary period provided for in article 14 of the Workers’ Statute. The contract signing date for the proposed candidate will take place from October 1, 2026.

Disability quota and candidacy requirements

As this is a position within the disability quota, applicants must certify a degree of disability equal to or greater than 33%, recognized by the competent body and compatible with the functions inherent to permanent labor teaching staff. Those requiring adaptations must request them along with the application, providing a copy of the recognition; failure to do so will be understood as not requiring them or waiving them. If no person from the disability quota is proposed, the position will be filled by the first proposed applicant from the general quota.

Specific requirements include holding a doctoral degree and having the curricular activity positively evaluated by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA) or by the Canarian Agency for University Quality and Educational Evaluation (ACCUEE), in accordance with Article 82 of the LOSU. Spanish nationality is also required—without prejudice to the provisions for nationals of other States—being at least sixteen years of age and not exceeding the maximum compulsory retirement age; those who do not possess Spanish nationality must certify a knowledge of Spanish at level B2 or higher.

Applications, fees, and process calendar

Applications are submitted through the electronic office of the University of La Laguna, addressed to the Vice-Rector for Teaching and Research Staff, with the following milestones:

  • Application period: ten business days from the day following publication in the BOC.
  • Examination fees: 15 euros, via deposit into account ES14 3076 0620 19 2281304523 of CajaSiete; failure to pay results in definitive exclusion.
  • Provisional list of admitted and excluded candidates: maximum of fifteen business days after the closing of the period, with ten business days for claims or corrections.
  • Constitution of selection committees: twenty business days from the publication of the definitive list.
  • First test: begins within a maximum of fifteen business days from the presentation act.
  • Scoring: maximum of 10 points, divided into two tests of 5 points each, with a minimum of 2.5 points per test.
  • Resolution of the competition: may not exceed three months from the publication of the definitive list of candidacies.

The call directly affects research personnel and university teaching staff, opening a path toward stabilization through the figure of permanent labor teaching staff within the 2025 Employment Offer. The reservation of the disability quota reinforces access to public university employment for people with disabilities in the Canary Islands, while the Sculpture position in the Faculty of Fine Arts specifies the University of La Laguna’s commitment to consolidating its teaching staff in that area of knowledge.
