The Rectorate of the University of Burgos has published the 2026 Public Employment Offer (OEP) for Teaching and Research Staff (PDI) in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León, by means of the Resolution of September 9, 2026. The call, which appears in issue number 178 of the gazette, dated September 14, 2026, opens a total of 43 new entry positions and another 18 positions via internal promotion.
The offer was approved by the university’s Governing Council in an ordinary session on July 9, 2026, upon the proposal of the Faculty Commission, and has the mandatory authorization from the Ministry of Education of the Regional Government of Castilla y León, dated July 31, 2026. The document bears the official reference BOCYL-D-14092026-178-8 and is signed by the rector, José Miguel García Pérez.
Calculation of the replacement rate
The offer is based on article 20.two of Law 31/2022, of December 23, on the General State Budgets for 2023, as extended, which sets the staff replacement rate at 120 percent for priority sectors, including the bodies of University Professors (Catedráticos) and Associate Professors (Profesores Titulares), as well as contracted doctoral teaching staff regulated by Organic Law 6/2001 on Universities.
During 2025, there were 43 faculty departures, from which 15 already included in the 2025 OEP are deducted, while another 8 departures were recorded up to March 31, 2026. In application of the aforementioned law, the university may call for 43 positions.
Distribution of positions
The offer is structured into three blocks of teaching and research staff:
- Civil servant staff: 18 positions for University Associate Professor.
- Contractual staff: 19 positions for Permanent Labor Professor.
- I3/R3 Reserve: 6 positions (3 Associate and 3 Permanent Labor) reserved for researchers with accreditation equivalent to the I3/R3 certificate.
- Internal promotion: 18 positions for University Professor (Catedrático).
The positions marked with an asterisk in the annex belong to the mandatory reserve for researchers who hold accreditation equivalent to the I3/R3 certificate, in compliance with the reserve established by the Budget Law for the hiring of doctoral research staff.
Relevance for applicants
The publication of this OEP represents a significant opportunity for those aspiring to join the university faculty in Castilla y León, as it combines open-access positions with a specific internal promotion route toward the body of full professors. Furthermore, the call reinforces the commitment to attracting accredited doctoral research staff, in line with the priority sectors defined by the state regulations on staff replacement.
