La Robla aprueba las bases para contratar un profesor de piano

The City Council of La Robla has approved the guidelines that will govern the temporary hiring of a full-time piano teacher for the Municipal School of Music and the establishment of a job bank. The resolution was adopted via Mayoral Decree number 2026-0640, dated September 30, 2026, signed by Mayor Santiago Dorado Cañón, and published in the Official Gazette of the Province of León number 189, dated October 2, 2026, with the reference BOP-LE-2026-189008. Interested parties will have ten business days to submit their application.

The decree contains two agreements: the first invokes the competencies for the approval of the guidelines under Article 10 of Law 40/2015, and the second approves the selection guidelines. The position belongs to group II and its remuneration is set according to the collective agreement. The process is resolved through a competition system, without an examination phase, and will also result in a job bank to cover future service needs.

A profile that goes beyond the piano

The position is not limited to teaching the instrument. The guidelines require that the selected candidate, in addition to holding a piano degree, demonstrates:

  • Knowledge of brass instruments.
  • Ability to conduct the Music Band.
  • Competence to teach music informatics.

General requirements include being eighteen years of age and not exceeding the maximum compulsory retirement age, possessing Spanish nationality or that of a member state of the European Union, having the capacity to be employed, not being subject to incompatibility or incapacity, not suffering from a disease incompatible with the duties, not having been dismissed from the service of any administration through disciplinary proceedings nor being disqualified, not having been convicted of sexual offenses, and holding the Intermediate or Professional Degree in Music specializing in Piano.

Ten business days and a four-member tribunal

Applications, addressed to the Mayor-President of the La Robla City Council, shall be submitted to the municipal General Registry or through the means provided for in Article 16.4 of Law 39/2015. The deadline is ten business days from the day following the publication of the guidelines in the provincial gazette. Along with the application, the model of which appears in Annex I, the following must be provided:

  • Degree in the specialty for which they are applying.
  • Photocopy of the DNI (ID).
  • Curriculum vitae with supporting documentation of the alleged merits.
  • Documentation of other qualifications and of training, experience, and professional merits.

Once the deadline has expired, the mayor will approve the provisional lists of admitted and excluded candidates, with two business days allowed for corrections. The Qualifying Tribunal, appointed by mayoral decree, will consist of a president, two members, and a secretary with a voice but no vote, and shall aim for parity between women and men in accordance with Article 60 of Royal Legislative Decree 5/2015.

Merit competition and employment pool

The assessment of merits reaches a maximum of 20 points, divided into three blocks: academic training (up to 5 points), teaching experience (up to 10), and training and professional development courses (up to 5). The employment pool will be activated for substitutions due to temporary disability, maternity or paternity leave, leaves of absence, partial retirement, gender-based violence, vacations, or accumulation of tasks, among other scenarios. The call-up will follow the strict order of scoring; the candidate will have twenty-four business hours to accept or reject the offer and will retain their position until completing ninety days of work.

The call for applications arrives in the middle of the school year and seeks to guarantee the continuity of music education in a municipality that maintains its own municipal school. In addition to filling the position, the process provides the city council with a reserve of specialized teaching staff to respond quickly to sick leave and absences of teaching personnel.
