La Laguna announces competitive examination for IT technician at the ULL

The University of La Laguna has published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands the call for a restricted competitive examination to fill a vacant position for Specialist Technician, specialty Computer Science, salary level 3, of the Labor Administration and Services Personnel (PTGAS). The resolution, signed on August 4, 2026, by Rector Francisco Javier García Rodríguez, is recorded in BOC number 167, dated August 20, 2026, pages 32474 to 32490.

The process is part of the Public Employment Offer for Labor Administration and Services Personnel of the University of La Laguna for 2023, approved by resolution on December 20, 2023 (BOC of 12.28.2023). This is a restricted call, aimed exclusively at the permanent labor personnel of the university itself, in line with the provisions of the II Collective Agreement for the Labor Administration and Services Personnel of the Public Universities of the Canary Islands, which provides for internal promotion as a means of advancement for permanent staff.

Requirements and submission of applications

To participate, it is necessary to hold the status of permanent Labor PTGAS of the University of La Laguna and meet the required qualification: Vocational Training, Higher Baccalaureate or equivalent, access test for those over 25 years old, or a level 2 professional certificate. Those whose contracts are suspended due to holding public office or who are on leave of absence may not apply, except in cases of gender violence and the care of minors or family members.

• Submission period: 20 calendar days, from August 25 to September 13, 2026, both inclusive.
• Processing exclusively electronically through the ULL headquarters.
• The provisional list of admitted and excluded candidates will be published within a maximum period of one month, with ten business days to correct defects.

Selection system and scale

The selection combines an examination phase, which accounts for 60% of the final grade, and a merit phase, accounting for the remaining 40%. The examination consists of a single exercise with two parts, theoretical and practical, both of which are mandatory and eliminatory, and will be held on the same day.

• First part (theoretical): multiple-choice questionnaire on the syllabus, with a penalty of one correct answer for every three incorrect ones.
• Second part (practical): practical case study on the functions of the position.
• Internal weighting: 40% for the theoretical part and 60% for the practical part.
• Merit phase: evaluation of services provided at the ULL (maximum 3 points) and training (maximum 1 point).

Tribunal and syllabus

The Evaluating Board, consisting of five members, will be chaired by Mónica Esther Flores Felipe, Head of the Teaching Resource Management and Academic Planning Section, with Paula Adoración Torres Hernández serving as secretary. The syllabus, detailed in Annex IV, covers 20 topics including operating systems, networks, office automation, computer security, incident management, and user support.

The call for applications represents an internal promotion pathway for the university’s permanent staff, who may regularize their professional and economic status within a maximum period of 15 days following the resolution. With a single position available, the process reinforces the University of La Laguna’s commitment to consolidating its technical IT staff within a context of digital transformation of university services.
