The Regional Government sets the boundary between Antas and Zurgena in Almería
Por FactBox Admin

The Regional Government of Andalusia (Junta de Andalucía) has established the identifying data for the line separating the municipal boundaries of Antas and Zurgena, both in the province of Almería, through a boundary demarcation order. The decision is recorded in the Official Gazette of the Regional Government of Andalusia (BOJA) no. 212, dated November 3, 2026, within section 3. Other provisions, under the reference text no. 14360. The five-page text is dated October 27, 2026, and falls under the Ministry of Tourism, Justice, Deregulation, and Local Administration.
The order comes via boundary demarcation proceedings, the administrative procedure through which the regional administration specifies on the ground and on paper the layout of the limits between municipalities when there are discrepancies, ambiguities, or outdated cartography. The result is not a simple map: the identifying data of the delimiting line becomes the official reference for any administrative action that depends on knowing which municipality a piece of land, a building, or an installation is located in.
Issue 212 of the gazette, corresponding to Tuesday, November 3, 2026, and year XLVIII, includes the text within the block of provisions of that ministry, alongside another order of the same date regarding the re-surveying of the line between Adra and Berja (text no. 14361), also in the province of Almería.
What the order establishes
- It fixes the “identifying data” of the delimiting line between Antas and Zurgena, the two Almería municipalities.
- It does so “through boundary demarcation proceedings,” meaning after the technical delimitation work provided for in the procedure.
- The resolution is dated October 27, 2026, and was published on November 3, 2026.
- The document occupies five pages of the gazette and its official reference is text no. 14360.
Effects on cadastre, licenses, and competencies
The layout of a municipal boundary determines which council—Antas City Council or Zurgena City Council—is competent over each plot. Immediate practical consequences derive from this:
- The assignment of estates and plots to a municipality for cadastral purposes and cadastral reference.
- The municipal authority that processes and grants urban planning, construction, and activity licenses.
- The allocation of municipal competencies in services, urban discipline, public roads, fees, and local revenues.
- The coverage of proximity services, such as local police and maintenance, on the boundary lands.
For landowners in the affected strip, the relevant piece of information is the official delimiter: the published line replaces previous references and serves as the basis for resolving files that until now could have remained in a “no man’s land.”
A sequence of regional boundary demarcations
The case of Antas and Zurgena is not an isolated occurrence. Days earlier, BOJA no. 210, dated October 29, 2026, published several orders of the same type dated October 22:
- Jabalquinto and Mengíbar (Jaén): approval of the resurvey and identification data (text no. 14231).
- Casarabonela and Yunquera (Málaga): demarcation and resurvey (text no. 14233).
- Rincón de la Victoria and Totalán (Málaga): demarcation and resurvey (text no. 14232).
- Abla (Almería) and Baza (Granada): resurvey of a line separating two provinces (text no. 14235).
The pattern is common: brief resolutions, four to five pages long, which end years of uncertainty on the ground and are published in the bulletin in stages.
Why it matters
The publication of the order provides legal certainty to two bordering municipalities in the Bajo Almanzora and Almerian Levante regions, where urban expansion and agricultural activity make any doubt regarding boundaries particularly sensitive. From now on, the cadastre, registry, and licensing departments have a single reference to decide which town hall governs every meter of the border.
