La Dirección Territorial aprueba las fiestas locales de 2027 en Alicante

The Territorial Directorate of Housing, Employment, Youth and Equality of Alicante has approved the 2027 calendar of local holidays—paid and non-recoverable—for the entire province. This is done through the resolution of October 29, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante (BOP) No. 210, dated November 4, 2026, with reference 8352/2026. The annex establishes two non-working days per municipality, as proposed by each municipal plenary, and the resolution takes effect the day following its publication.

The resolution is based on Article 37.2 of the consolidated text of the Workers’ Statute Law, approved by Royal Legislative Decree 2/2015, of October 23, and Article 46 of Royal Decree 2001/1983, of July 28: up to two days of each calendar year, paid and non-recoverable, determined by the labor authority upon the proposal of the city council plenary and published in the official gazette.

Decree 42/2026, of March 20, of the Consell, which establishes the labor calendar of the Valencian Community for 2027, refers the choice of those two holidays to the local corporations. The processing corresponds to the Territorial Employment Service, according to Article 23 of Order 2/2026, of May 12, which develops Decree 19/2026, of February 13.

The regulation reminds us that these days do not only affect labor relations: Article 30.7 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, requires them to be integrated into the calendar of non-working days for the purpose of calculating administrative and judicial deadlines, and they condition the opening of public offices and courts, the validity of procedural acts, and legal and commercial traffic.

San Vicente Ferrer, the most repeated date

The provincial calendar is structured around a few common dates, derived from the Holy Week cycle and holiday bridges:

  • April 5, Monday (second Monday of Easter, San Vicente Ferrer): chosen by the majority of municipalities, including Beneixama, Benidoleig, Biar, Bigastro, Busot, Monòvar, Novelda, Petrer, Teulada, Torrevieja, Villena, and Elche.
  • March 25, Maundy Thursday: Banyeres de Mariola, Benasau, Beniarbeig, Crevillent, Pinoso, La Vall de Gallinera, and La Vall de Laguar.
  • December 7, Tuesday (Constitution bridge): Alcósser, Alfafara, Benijófar, Benimassot, Fageca, Monforte del Cid, Penáguila, San Fulgencio, and San Isidro, among others.
  • October 11, Monday (Hispanidad bridge): Beniarrés, Benimarfull, Benigembla, Gorga, Los Montesinos, Quatretondeta, and San Fulgencio.

Capitals, large cities, and districts

Alicante capital will have Thursday, April 8, Holy Face feast day, and Thursday, June 24, Fogueres de Sant Joan. Elche opts for April 5 and Wednesday, December 29, feast day of the Coming of the Virgin, while Benidorm concentrates its two days on November 15 and 16, Monday and Tuesday.

In the Marina Alta, Dénia sets July 7 (Santísima Sangre) and August 16 (San Roque), and the annex separately includes the minor local entities dependent on the city: the Eatim of La Xara (September 3 and 21) and the Eatim of Jesús Pobre (April 5 and May 17). Alcoy moves its days to Saturday, April 24, and Monday, April 26; Orihuela to Saturday, July 17, and September 8; Torrevieja, to April 5 and July 16.

Muro de Alcoy, undetermined, and other incidents

The annex presents several particularities that should be kept in mind:

  • Muro de Alcoy appears with the mention “UNDETERMINED,” therefore its 2027 local calendar remains to be finalized.
  • Callosa de Segura appears with the literal expression “April 5, 2026,” when the resolution refers to the 2027 fiscal year.
  • Tàrbena records “August 9, Monday; August 9, Tuesday,” with the same date for both days.
  • Agost leaves the July reference incomplete (“of July, Monday”), without specifying the day.

One month to appeal

Against the resolution, which does not end the administrative route, an administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) may be filed before the General Directorate of Labor, Cooperativism, and Occupational Safety within one month from the day following its publication, in accordance with articles 121 and 122 of Law 39/2015. Local administrations cannot appeal via the administrative route: they must formulate a reasoned request within two months for the agreement to be annulled or revoked, according to article 44 of Law 29/1998, regulating contentious-administrative jurisdiction.

The calendar has an immediate effect on company planning, collective agreements, and work shifts in more than a hundred municipalities, and marks the calculation of deadlines in public offices, courts, and registries. For city councils, the publication also closes the procedure that provides legal coverage for their 2027 holidays and leaves open the correction of the incidents detected in the annex.
