La Diputación abre el cobro voluntario de tributos hasta diciembre

The Provincial Council of Burgos has opened the voluntary payment period for a dozen local fees and charges, which will run from October 1 to December 5, 2026, both dates inclusive. The announcement is signed by the president of the institution, Borja Suárez Pedrosa, in Burgos on September 25, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Burgos no. 187, corresponding to Thursday, October 1, 2026, with official reference BOPBUR-2026-04153.

The collection notice is issued by the Tax Management and Collection Service of the Council and is addressed to taxpayers and other interested parties of the city councils that have delegated or entrusted the collection management of these taxes to the provincial institution. The list attached to the announcement details, municipality by municipality, the fiscal year subject to collection, which in most cases is 2026, although settlements from 2025 and 2024, as well as semi-annual and quarterly fractions, are also listed.

Taxes included in the collection

The official list includes the following categories:

  • Water supply fee.
  • Waste collection fee.
  • Driveway (vado) fee.
  • Street market fee.
  • Livestock transit fee.
  • Municipal cemetery fee.
  • Dog ownership fee.
  • Towing and recovery fee.
  • Public road occupation fee.
  • Leases of rural properties.
  • Irrigation users.

Affected municipalities and fiscal years

The water supply fee has the widest territorial scope: the list includes around two hundred municipalities and local entities, from Agés and Aguilillo to Zael, with fiscal years ranging from 2024 to 2026 and partial periods in several cases. The waste collection fee is collected in fifteen municipalities, including Briviesca, Condado de Treviño, Medina de Pomar, Revilla del Campo, Roa de Duero, and Villarcayo.

Other categories have a more limited scope:

  • Driveway fee: Briviesca and Trespaderme.
  • Street market fee: Villarcayo.
  • Livestock transit fee: ten municipalities, including Frías, La Gallega, Santo Domingo de Silos, and Villaverde del Monte.
  • Municipal cemetery fee: Briviesca and Fuentecén.
  • Dog ownership fee: nine municipalities, including Frías, Merindad de Montija, Saldaña de Burgos, and Valle de Mena.
  • Towing and recovery fee: nine municipalities, including Baños de Valdearados, Fuentespina, and Villangómez.
  • Public road occupation fee: Briviesca, Frías, and Santa Cecilia.
  • Lease of rural properties: Barrio de Muño, Iglesiarrubia, and Villafruela.
  • Irrigation communities: C. Regantes Canales del Arlanzón and C. Regantes Bentretea, both with irrigation users for 2026.

Payment methods and direct debit

Payment may be made through collaborating entities, at any office of BBVA, Ibercaja, Caja Viva, and Banco Santander, for which an individual notification with the necessary information will be sent to the taxpayer. Payment via the Internet is also accepted through the Taxpayer Virtual Office (https://registro.diputaciondeburgos.es/sta), which does not require an electronic ID or personal digital certificate and accepts Mastercard, Eurocard, and Visa cards.

The Provincial Council recommends the direct debit system through financial institutions. Account charges for direct debited receipts will be made on October 5, 2026, and direct debit orders formalized from the start of the voluntary period will take effect in the following fiscal year.

Public exhibition, appeals, and payment warning

The registers will remain available to interested parties for one month at the respective town halls and at the Collection Service of the Provincial Council, located at Paseo del Espolón, 34, Burgos. An appeal for reversal may be filed against the approval of each register and the incorporated settlements before the corresponding mayor within one month from the day following the end of the public exhibition; in the case of irrigation communities, the appeal is addressed to the president of the community.

The announcement warns, in accordance with Article 24 of the General Collection Regulations approved by Royal Decree 939/2005, of July 29, that once the payment period has elapsed, debts will be demanded through the enforcement procedure and will accrue executive and enforcement surcharges, late payment interest, and procedural costs.

The calendar affects thousands of taxpayers in the province who depend on provincial collection management: those with pending receipts have slightly more than two months to pay without a surcharge, and the date of October 5 marks the first automatic charge for those using direct debit.
