The Gaming Commission updates the list of banned gambling sites
Por FactBox Admin

The Gaming Commission approved a new version of the list of prohibited gambling sites on September 17, 2026, published in the Belgian Official Gazette on September 30, 2026, under reference C − 2026/006950, page 52481. The modified list can be consulted on the Commission’s website, www.gamingcommission.be. The notice is disseminated under the header of the Federal Public Service Justice.
The legal framework of the prohibition
The list is established pursuant to the Law of May 7, 1999, on games of chance, betting, gambling establishments, and player protection, as amended by the Law of January 10, 2010, amending the legislation relating to games of chance. This mechanism allows the Gaming Commission to identify operators offering games without authorization and to publish a list of them.
Publication in the Belgian Official Gazette gives this list official and enforceable status: it constitutes the public reference that players, payment intermediaries, and internet service providers can consult to verify the legality of a site.
Frequent updates
The list is subject to regular revisions, as confirmed by successive publications:
- version approved on August 27, 2026, published in the Belgian Official Gazette on September 1, 2026, under reference C − 2026/006429, pages 47657 and 47658;
- version approved on September 17, 2026, published in the Belgian Official Gazette on September 30, 2026, under reference C − 2026/006950, page 52481.
The three-week gap between the two approvals illustrates the Gaming Commission’s desire to rapidly adapt the list to the evolution of illegal online offerings.
A sector undergoing institutional reorganization
This update occurs within a context of transfer of competencies. The Law of April 30, 2026, regarding the transfer of the Gaming Commission and the competence in matters of games of chance to the Federal Public Service Economy, SMEs, Middle Classes and Energy, initiated this movement. The Royal Decree of August 5, 2026, regarding the transfer of personnel from the Gaming Commission from the FPS Justice to the FPS Economy, SMEs, Middle Classes and Energy, was published in the Belgian Official Gazette on September 7, 2026, under reference C − 2026/006481, page 49117.
Furthermore, player protection remains at the heart of the regulatory agenda: a Royal Decree of August 30, 2026, frames the conditions under which newsagents may take bets as a complementary activity, notably with a limitation on annual stakes and the share of turnover derived from this activity.
What this changes for players
The list published on September 30, 2026, is the only up-to-date reference for identifying prohibited gambling sites in Belgium. An operator appearing on this list offers games without authorization and evades legal obligations for player protection, particularly regarding spending limits, voluntary exclusion, and the fight against addiction.
For the reader, the consequence is direct: before registering or depositing money on an online gaming platform, it is advisable to check for its presence on list C − 2026/006950 published in the Belgian Official Gazette of September 30, 2026, and reproduced on www.gamingcommission.be. Playing on a prohibited site deprives the player of the remedies and guarantees provided by the law of May 7, 1999.
