The Port Authority approves new cruise ship tariffs in Tenerife

The Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in a session held on July 24, 2026, has approved the commercial rates for the provision and use of equipment, material means, and facilities owned by the Port Authority intended for passenger operations under the cruise regime. The agreement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife number 103, dated August 28, 2026 (registry 1670707, page 24225), and enters into force the day following its publication.

The resolution, electronically signed by the president, Pedro Suárez López de Vergara, on August 5, 2026, establishes a schedule of daily and per-operation rates for the elements that the Port Authority makes available to cruise operators under a self-service regime. The text repeals any commercial rates previously approved for the same elements.

Equipment and material means rates

The rate schedule distinguishes between inspection equipment, gangways, and auxiliary elements, with prices per calendar day or per operation:

• Fixed metal detector arch for person inspection: €32.80/day.
• Scanner for inspection of passenger-accompanied hand luggage: €69.86/day.
• Scanner for inspection of unaccompanied luggage (suitcases), fixed: €230.96/day.
• Mobile boarding/disembarking step or gangway, with railing, per transfer, assembly, and protection: €956.50/operation.
• Conveyor belt for checked luggage (ship-quay-ship): €49.65/day.
• Plastic pedestrian containment fence: €1.30/day, and €0.30/day from the second day onwards.

Eventual maritime stations

The agreement also regulates the provision of eventual maritime stations at the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with daily rates:

• Eventual maritime station – Heliport: €595.12/day.
• Eventual maritime station – interchange: €561.26/day.

The provision of these facilities must be requested sufficiently in advance, indicating the port of call, the scheduled time, and the operational needs. The rate is accrued for each calendar day of provision, regardless of the actual time of use, and exclusively comprises the use of the facility in its current condition, including its fixed installations and basic conservation and ordinary operation services.

Application conditions

Fees accrue from the moment the items are made available to the applicant, regardless of their actual use. License holders for the provision or self-provision of passenger port services under the cruise regime, as well as other users with express authorization from the Port Authority Directorate, are obligated to pay.

• Requests must be submitted at least 72 hours in advance.
• The operation of the equipment is carried out exclusively by qualified personnel authorized by the requesting entity.
• Making the items available does not create any right in favor of the applicant nor does it obligate the Port Authority to grant the requests.
• Exceptionally, and subject to express authorization, the Port Authority may provide transport, loading, unloading, installation, disassembly, and removal using its own means, at a rate of €350.00 per action; mobile stairs or gangways are excluded, as their transfer is already included in their specific rate.
• Failure to comply with the conditions may lead to the denial of future requests for use.

The new regulation provides an updated tariff framework for passenger operations under the cruise regime in the ports dependent on the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, a key segment for the island’s port tourism sector. With the agreement coming into force, shipping companies and port service operators must adjust their operating costs to the new rates, which replace those previously approved for the same items.
