The ANA registers an industrial water concession for Desarrollo Minero in Chontales

The National Public Registry of Water Rights and Service Providers of the National Water Authority (ANA) registered in favor of the commercial company Desarrollo Minero de Nicaragua, S.A. a concession title for the use of surface water at the point known as «Tajo Santa María», municipality of La Libertad, department of Chontales. The registration certification was published in La Gaceta, Official Gazette No. 175 on Friday, September 25, 2026, under Reg. 2026-00909, and grants a right valid for five (5) years for industrial use.

The registration was recorded under Perpetual Number zero, one, zero, four (0104), folios 139 and 140, Volume VII, of the Registration Book of Concession Titles, with the registration reference RPNDAPS-LITC-ITC-0104-2026. The title corresponds to Administrative Resolution RAE-ANA-DGRH-0145-2026, issued on August 27, 2026, and notified on September 10, 2026.

The regulatory framework invoked by the Registry is Law No. 620, «General Law of National Waters», published in La Gaceta, Official Gazette No. 169 on September 4, 2007; Law No. 1046, «Reform Law to Law No. 620», published in La Gaceta, Official Gazette No. 217 on November 23, 2020; and Administrative Resolution No. 140-2019, «Appointment of the National Public Registrar of Water Rights», dated December 20, 2019.

The point of use and the authorized volume

The resolution acknowledges the use at a single point, with the following technical characteristics:

• Designated point: «Tajo Santa María».
• Basin No. 61, named «Río Escondido».
• Location: municipality of La Libertad, department of Chontales.
• UTM WGS84 Coordinates: 698604 E – 1353819 N.
• Maximum annual use volume: 412,813.57 m³.
• Authorized use: INDUSTRIAL.

Procedure, validity, and responsible parties

The application was submitted on September 10, 2026, by engineer Omar Vega Sevilla, acting as General Administrative Proxy for Desarrollo Minero de Nicaragua, S.A. The company was incorporated by Public Deed No. 96 signed on May 12, 2000, before the notary offices of Alejandro Carrión Abaunza, and its representation was accredited by Testimony of Public Deed No. 37 dated April 15, 2010, before Miguel Castillo Martínez.

The granted right is valid for five (5) years from the moment of its notification. The certification was signed and sealed in Managua by Luis Fernando Yescas García, National Public Registrar of Water Rights and Service Providers, at 4:45 in the afternoon on September 10, 2026, and was issued at the request of Omar Vega Sevilla himself for the corresponding administrative purposes. The Sixth Resolve of the registered resolution establishes that the certification must be published in La Gaceta, Official Gazette, within a maximum period of fifteen (15) calendar days.
