Justice approves the staffing table of the Secretariat of Government of the Canarian High Court of Justice

The General Directorate of Relations with the Administration of Justice has approved the list of job positions for the Government Secretariat of the High Court of Justice of the Canary Islands, consisting of a total of 15 positions. The measure is formalized through a resolution dated September 16, 2026, signed by the general director María Leonor Ferrer Sancho, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands no. 193, of September 25, 2026, within section III, Other Resolutions.

The resolution is issued under the fifth transitional provision of Organic Law 1/2025, of January 2, on measures regarding the efficiency of the Public Justice Service, which establishes that the implementation of the Judicial Office shall be simultaneous with that of the Courts of First Instance and grants the autonomous communities with competencies in justice matters the power to draft and approve their lists of job positions. The regulation is also based on articles 520, 521, and 522.2 of Organic Law 6/1985, of July 1, of the Judiciary, which configure the Government Secretariat as its own destination center and reserve the approval of the staff for the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, following negotiation with the most representative trade union organizations and communication to the Ministry of Justice.

The competence of the General Directorate derives from article 103 of the Organic Regulation of the Ministry of Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice and Security, approved by Decree 108/2024, of July 31.

Fifteen positions distributed between two headquarters

The list of job positions is incorporated as an annex to the resolution and is structured into two destination centers:

• Las Palmas de Gran Canaria: 14 positions, all assigned to the Administration of Justice.
• Santa Cruz de Tenerife: 1 position.

The breakdown by designation and staffing at the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria headquarters is as follows:

• P.A. Management: 2 positions.
• P.A. Management – TSJ Presidency: 1 position.
• P.A. Management – Gov. Secretary: 1 position.
• P.A. Processing – Coordination Secretary: 1 position.
• P.A. Processing: 6 positions.
• Judicial Assistance: 2 positions, plus 1 position declared for extinction.

In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the only planned staffing is one position for P.A. Processing – Coordination Secretary.

Remuneration and methods of provision

The annex details the general supplement of the position and the specific supplement assigned to each category:

• P.A. Management: 4,409.16 euros general supplement and 9,413.04 euros specific supplement.
• P.A. Processing: 3,777.12 euros general supplement and 8,862.96 euros specific supplement.
• Judicial Assistance: 2,885.16 euros general supplement and 8,312.76 euros specific supplement.

Regarding the staffing system, most positions will be filled via transfer competition, while the positions of P.A. Management – TSJ Presidency and P.A. Management – Gov. Secretary will be filled by free appointment. All destinations require the applicant to belong to the Administration of Justice as a prerequisite for origin.

One Judicial Assistant position to be phased out

The staffing configuration responds to the evolution of the functions of the Government Secretariat following the implementation of the new organizational model and the progress of electronic processing, which has reduced the support needs inherent to the Judicial Assistant Corps. Therefore, of the three existing positions of this corps in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, one will be considered a position to be phased out, and its amortization will take effect upon the first vacancy among them.

The resolution will take effect the day following its publication in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands and on the Directorate General’s website. From that date, where applicable, personnel alignment proceedings will begin in accordance with the Organic Law of the Judiciary and Royal Decree 1451/2005, of December 7. Against this act, which ends the administrative route, an optional appeal for reversal may be filed within one month or a contentious-administrative appeal within two months.

The approval of this staffing plan culminates the adaptation of the Canarian Administration of Justice to the model of Courts of First Instance and establishes the conditions for destination, remuneration, and provision of personnel serving in the Government Secretariat of the high court, a decisive step for the effective reorganization of the judicial office in the archipelago.
