Jabalquinto sets the daily fee for the municipal market at 0.87 euros

The City Council of Jabalquinto (Jaén) has definitively approved the modification of the fiscal ordinance regulating the tax for the occupation of public domain with stalls, shacks, sales booths, and shows or attractions located on land for public use, as well as street industries and street vendors in markets. The agreement, adopted by the Plenary of the Corporation on July 17, 2026, becomes final as no claims were filed and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Jaén number 186, dated September 24, 2026 (reference 2026/4232). The rate for sales in the municipal market is set at 0.87 euros per square meter per day.

The edict is signed by the mayor-president, Pedro López Lérida, and is issued under article 17.3 of Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5, which approves the Revised Text of the Law Regulating Local Treasuries. The published text reproduces only the article of the ordinance that has been modified, specifically the one relating to rates.

What the ordinance taxes

The regulation governs the occupation of the local public domain with removable or mobile installations linked to commercial activity on the street. The scope of application includes:

• Stalls, shacks, and sales booths located on land for public use.
• Shows or attractions installed on public land.
• Street industries and street vending in markets.

The modified article 6 establishes a single published rate: sales in the municipal market, set at 0.87 euros per square meter per day. The amount is applied per occupied area and per day of activity.

Processing and entry into force

The file followed the procedure provided for local fiscal ordinances:

• Initial approval by the Plenary on July 17, 2026.
• Publication of the provisional agreement in the Official Gazette of the Province of Jaén number 141, dated July 23, 2026.
• Public exhibition of the file without any claims being presented.
• Automatic elevation of the agreement to definitive status, in accordance with article 17.3 of Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004.

The announcement is made public “for general knowledge” and is signed in Jabalquinto on September 8, 2026.

Available appeal process

Against the definitive approval, interested parties may file a contentious-administrative appeal before the corresponding Chamber based in Granada of the High Court of Justice of Andalusia. The deadline is two months from the publication of the edict in the Official Gazette of the Province of Jaén, in the forms established by the regulatory norms of said jurisdiction.

Who it affects

The modification directly affects street vendors who set up their stalls in the municipal market and fairground operators who set up attractions or booths on public land. The rate of 0.87 euros per square meter per day serves as the billing reference for the municipal tax for the use of that space.

The publication closes the file opened in July and provides the Jabalquinto City Council with a firm tariff framework to settle the tax, which provides legal certainty to the stallholders and to the municipal collection management itself. Those affected are already aware of the applicable unit price and have two months to challenge it before the contentious-administrative courts if they consider it contrary to the law.
