Por FactBox Admin

Indemnité carburant : la demande ouvre le 27 octobre et ferme le 31 décembre

The application for the fuel allowance has been open since October 27, 2026, and must be submitted, under penalty of foreclosure, no later than December 31, 2026. This window is established by the order of October 23, 2026 (NOR ECOE2628252A), published in the Official Journal of the French Republic, JORF No. 0251 of October 27, 2026, and made applicable upon its publication by decree No. 2026-993 of October 26, 2026 (NOR PRMX2628583D).

A mechanism created fifteen days earlier

The allowance itself was established by decree No. 2026-959 of October 15, 2026 (NOR ECOE2626788D), appearing in JORF No. 0242 of October 16, 2026, under the authority of the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Industrial, Energy, and Digital Sovereignty. The text presents the aid as intended “to limit the effects of rising fuel costs for households using a vehicle for professional purposes.”

The amount is set at 100 euros. Persons who have effectively benefited from the allowance provided for by decree No. 2026-333 of April 30, 2026 — a previous mechanism which the new text succeeds — will receive an automatic payment of 100 euros, without any further action required.

The intervention of decree No. 2026-993, signed by the Prime Minister, is explained by the timeline: it brings the order into force immediately upon its appearance in the Official Journal, without a deferred application period.

Who can benefit

Decree 2026-959 strictly defines eligibility:

  • taxpayers domiciled in metropolitan France, in Mayotte, Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, and Réunion, within the meaning of a) 1 of Article 4 B of the General Tax Code, for the year 2024;
  • at least 16 years old as of December 31, 2024, and having a declared earned income for the 2024 tax year (salaries and wages excluding unemployment and early retirement, BIC, BNC, or agricultural profits, including micro-enterprises);
  • reference tax income per share for 2024 less than or equal to 22,770 euros;
  • a two, three, or four-wheeled vehicle with an internal combustion or non-rechargeable hybrid engine, used for professional purposes, including home-to-work commutes, regularly insured on the date of the application;
  • more than 15 kilometers per trip between home and workplace, or more than 8,000 kilometers per year for professional activity;
  • one single allowance per applicant and per vehicle; those liable for the real estate wealth tax (IFI) for 2024 are excluded.

Heavy quadricycles with engines, agricultural vehicles, heavy goods vehicles, company or service vehicles, and damaged vehicles within the meaning of Articles L. 327-1 to L. 327-6 of the Highway Code are excluded.

A fully digitized process

The application is submitted electronically via a form provided in the applicant’s public finances area, accessible from impots.gouv.fr. The payment, in the form of a grant, is issued by the General Directorate of Public Finances to the bank account already provided to the tax administration by the tax household.

The beneficiary must retain documents proving their eligibility for five years; agents of the General Directorate of Public Finances may request them at any time, with a one-month deadline for production. Unduly received sums are recovered according to the rules applicable to non-tax and non-state property debts, with penalties applied when the grant was based on inaccurate information.

To process the files, the information body mentioned in Article L. 451-1 of the Insurance Code, responsible for the file of insured motorized land vehicles, provides the General Directorate of Public Finances with the necessary information and grants it access to this file. Third-party access to the system’s data for scientific or statistical research purposes may be authorized by a decision of the Minister in charge of the budget, while identifying data remains non-communicable.

A deadline not to be missed

For households and workers who depend on their cars, the stakes are twofold: 100 euros in aid, but above all a firm deadline. After December 31, 2026, the statute of limitations applies and no further applications can be submitted, whereas beneficiaries of the April 2026 scheme have no formalities to complete.
