Horsens court orders expulsion and four-year re-entry ban in public ruling

Retten i Horsens has sentenced Mihaita Gabriel Chebac, of Strandgade 1B, 2 th, 8700 Horsens, to 20 days’ imprisonment, a supplementary fine of 17,000 kroner and expulsion from Denmark with a four-year re-entry ban. The judgment, signed on 15 October 2026 by Sarah Clemensen of Retten i Horsens, is published in Statstidende of 20 October 2026 under the heading “Øvrige retslige kundgørelser – Forkyndelse af domme”, official reference S15102026-90.

The announcement is a formal service notice rather than a press release: the court states that the communication is served publicly because service by other means has not been possible. A transcript of the judgment is available for collection at Retten i Horsens, Godsbanegade 2, 8700 Horsens, telephone 99683600, under case number SS 61/2025.

A suspended sentence and a supplementary fine

The court imposed a custodial sentence of 20 days, but ordered that it not be executed if the convicted man complies with the conditions set out in the judgment:

  • He must not commit any punishable offence during a probation period of one year from the date the judgment becomes final.
  • He must pay a supplementary fine of 17,000 kroner.
  • The subsidiary penalty for non-payment of the fine is fixed at 10 days’ imprisonment.
  • He must bear the costs of the case.

The judgment does not set out the offence behind the conviction; the published notice is confined to the sanctions and the procedural information needed to serve it.

Licence lost for three years and expulsion for four

Alongside the fine, Mihaita Gabriel Chebac is deprived of the right to drive any motor vehicle requiring a driving licence, with the exception of a small moped, for three years. The disqualification period runs from 30 October 2024, the date fixed in the judgment.

The court further orders his expulsion from Denmark and imposes a four-year ban on re-entry. The re-entry ban is counted from the date of his departure or removal from the country, not from the date of the judgment.

A car confiscated from a third party

The judgment also provides for confiscation of a passenger car, registered in the name of Emilija Petrosiute. The vehicle is identified in the notice by both its registration number and its chassis number:

  • Registration number: AL66714.
  • Vehicle identification number (stelnr.): WAUZZZ8P1AA095213.

Confiscation is ordered at the expense of the registered keeper named in the judgment, a detail that distinguishes this case from the more common pattern in which the vehicle belongs to the convicted person.

Why the ruling is published in full

Danish courts may serve a judgment by public announcement when the defendant cannot be reached by ordinary means, and the notice in Statstidende is the legal instrument that makes the decision binding on him. The publication therefore carries the complete operative part of the ruling — prison term, fine, disqualification, expulsion, re-entry ban and confiscation — so that the convicted person can be informed of its content and of the deadlines attached to it.

The notice also fixes the practical consequences for anyone dealing with the case: the probation period of one year and the three-year driving ban both run from defined starting points, while the four-year re-entry ban only begins when he leaves Denmark. The transcript remains available at the court in Horsens for collection.

For readers, the case illustrates how Danish courts combine a short suspended sentence with administrative-style sanctions — a substantial fine, a long licence disqualification, expulsion and confiscation of a vehicle — in a single judgment, and how the state completes service through the official gazette when the defendant has disappeared from his last known address.
