Granada amplía el área conjunta del taxi a municipios de la Vega

The Regional Government of Andalusia (Junta de Andalucía) has authorized the expansion of the Joint Service Territorial Area for passenger transport services by tourist cars in Granada to several municipalities belonging to the Comarca de la Vega de Granada. The decision was adopted through the Resolution of October 23, 2026, by the Directorate General for Mobility and Transport, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Regional Government of Andalusia (BOJA) number 212, corresponding to Tuesday, November 3, 2026 (text no. 14314).

The announcement appears in section 3 of the gazette, dedicated to “Other provisions,” within the space that the BOJA reserves for the Ministry of Public Works and Mobility. The official text occupies six pages of the issue, compared to the usual length of one or two pages for singular resolutions published in the same section.

What changes with the expansion

The resolution authorizes that the area in which Granada taxis provide joint service cease to be limited to the current scope and extend to municipalities of the metropolitan environment integrated into the Comarca de la Vega de Granada. The agreement therefore affects two distinct groups:

  • Taxi professionals in the expanded area, who will now operate under the rules of a joint provision and not only within their municipal boundaries.
  • Users in the incorporated municipalities, who gain access to a shared service with the capital and other towns in the area.

Joint provision is the formula by which license holders from various city councils can provide services throughout the authorized area, with homogeneous operating rules, instead of being limited to the municipality that issued their license. The extension of the perimeter implies, in practice, that service conditions are no longer set exclusively within the local framework but are governed by a supra-municipal scheme.

The deciding body and the publication framework

Competence lies with the Directorate General for Mobility and Transport, attached to the Ministry of Public Works and Mobility of the Regional Government of Andalusia, which is the management center that exercises regional functions regarding passenger transport. The administrative act is dated October 23, 2026, and is incorporated into the gazette eleven days later, in the issue that opens the month of November.

BOJA number 212 corresponds to the XLVIII year of the publication and to Tuesday, November 3, 2026, and maintains the legal deposit SE-410/1979 and ISSN 2253-802X. The summary of the issue places the resolution within section 3 and assigns it text no. 14314, with a length of six pages.

Affected parties and subsequent procedure

Publication in the BOJA is the act that provides official publicity to the authorization and establishes its entry into the legal system, such that the new perimeter of the joint service area becomes enforceable against both the involved city councils and the affected taxi license holders.

The incorporated municipalities belong to the Comarca de la Vega de Granada, the most densely populated area of the Granada metropolitan area with an intense functional relationship with the capital, which explains the interest in integrating taxi services into a single territorial framework.

Why it is relevant

The expansion of the Joint Territorial Service Area modifies the map in which taxi drivers from the Granada belt operate and the coverage available to the residents of the Vega. The text published in the BOJA is the official reference for knowing the exact scope of the new area and the conditions under which the service will be provided.
