Galdakao has called for 52,000 euros in grants for the social activation of Basque

Galdakao City Council has issued a call for grants to promote the social activation of the Basque language. It was approved by Resolution number 2026-2193, dated September 24, and published in the Official Gazette of Bizkaia, number 189, section II, on October 2, 2026. The official reference for the call is BOB-2026a189-(II-5118), and it is registered in the State Grants Database under number 931991.

The call is conducted under a competitive bidding procedure and aims to finance projects and activities that boost the social use of the Basque language. The regulatory bases were initially approved by the Plenary of Galdakao City Council at the meeting on June 25, 2026, regarding the Language Policy and Education Technical Unit. The full text was published in the Official Gazette of Bizkaia on July 9, 2026, number 129.

According to the municipal registry service, no objections were filed during that period. The Municipal Secretary issued a certificate on September 9, 2026, making the provisionally approved bases final; these were subsequently published in the Official Gazette of Bizkaia, number 180, on September 21, 2026. The publication complies with articles 17.3.b) and 20.8.a) of the General Law on Grants, Law 38/2003 of November 17.

Amount and eligible expenses

The call has a maximum amount of 52,000 euros for this 2026 exercise, charged to budget line 21.3351.481.06. Expenses and activities included in articles 6 and 26 of the regulatory bases will be subsidized.

• Projects must start and end between January 1 and December 31 of the call’s year.
• Beneficiary organizations must meet the conditions set out in article 5 of the regulatory bases.

Application period and method

The application period begins on October 1, 2026, and ends on October 15. Applications to participate in the grants corresponding to the Education Area must be submitted through the Electronic Office of Galdakao City Council.

The resolution was signed in Galdakao on September 24, 2026, by Mayor Izaskun Barbarias Garai.

Target audience and funding purpose

The call is open to local associations and agents, provided they meet the conditions established in the regulatory bases. The grants are linked to the development of projects and activities aimed at strengthening the social activation of the Basque language.

The entire process is already closed: the bases are final, and the extract of the call has been published before the application period opened. This means that interested agents do not need to wait for the approval of the bases and can submit their proposals directly through the council’s electronic channels.
