Fuerteventura convoca cinco plazas de bomberos con lista de reserva

The Insular Council of Fuerteventura has approved the call and the specific rules for the selection process for four positions of Security and Emergency Agent and one position of Security and Emergency Corporal, both linked to firefighter roles, as well as the establishment of the corresponding reserve list. The approval was formalized through Resolution 6655/2026, dated September 28, 2026, by the Insular Area Councilor for Finance, Economic Promotion, Human Resources, Sports, and Sustainable Mobility. The announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 118, dated October 2, 2026, page 16823, reference 1994854.

The positions belong to the Special Administration Scale, Special Services Subscale, Group C, Subgroup C2, and are included in the Council’s 2023 Public Employment Offer, published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 157, dated December 29, 2023. The process is governed by the General Rules approved by Resolution of the Councilor for Human Resources on June 11, 2015 (Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 77, dated June 17, 2015), modified by Resolution of December 3, 2021 (number 150, dated December 15, 2021).

The call comes after the Council annulled the previous process for five Corporal and twenty Security and Emergency Agent positions. That annulment was agreed upon by Resolution 6109/2026, dated August 27, 2026, signed by Councilor Nuria Cabrera Méndez, as the General Rules that served as the framework for the specific rules had been judicially annulled, and it was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 106, dated September 4, 2026, page 15509, reference 1822384.

Five positions in the insular fire extinguishing service

The called destinations are as follows:

  • Fire Corporal: 1 position, in the Specialized Service for Prevention, Fire Extinguishing, and Rescue.
  • Fire Agent: 4 positions, in the same service.

All positions are civil service appointments and will be filled through a competitive examination system (concurso-oposición), in the open turn. If there are applicants who pass the process without sufficient vacancies, a specific reserve list will be drawn up for each category, which will be used preferentially for the interim appointment of civil service personnel.

Eliminatory physical tests and 200-hour course

The examination phase is eliminatory and includes four exercises: a physical fitness test, a theoretical questionnaire of 60 questions with three alternative answers in a maximum of seventy minutes, a practical case study, and a medical examination. The maximum score for the examination is 20 points and requires a minimum of 5 points in each scorable test.

The required physical marks are:

  • 50-meter freestyle swimming: maximum 50 seconds (men) and 60 seconds (women).
  • 1,500-meter run: maximum 7 minutes (men) and 7 minutes and 20 seconds (women).
  • Vertical jump: minimum 35 centimeters (men) and 30 centimeters (women).
  • Bench press: 40 kilos, 20 repetitions (men) and 30 kilos, 20 repetitions (women).
  • 80-meter sprint: maximum 12.300 seconds (men) and 13 seconds (women).

The competition phase, which is non-eliminatory, evaluates professional experience up to 1.50 points and educational merits up to 0.50 points. Afterward, applicants must complete a 200-hour selective training course and a practical internship period. Those who can prove at least three years of experience as a corporal or firefighter agent in a public administration fire service are exempt from the course.

Requirements, twenty-day deadline, and 25 euro fee

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Compulsory Secondary Education degree or equivalent.
  • C + E driver’s license.
  • Basic Navigation Skipper’s license.
  • First aid certificate issued by a public administration or approved entity.
  • Certification from the General Registry of Convicts and Rebels proving no criminal record or that records have been expunged.

The deadline for submitting applications is 20 calendar days from the day following the publication of the call summary in the Official State Gazette. Applications are submitted electronically through the electronic headquarters of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, and the examination fees amount to 25 euros for both the Corporal and Agent positions.

The reinforcement of the Specialized Service for Prevention, Fire Extinction, and Rescue is the key to this call: following the annulment of the previous process, the Cabildo reopens the way to incorporate career civil servants into the island’s emergency staff and, at the same time, maintains a reserve list to cover interim positions. For candidates, the calendar begins with the publication of the summary in the Official State Gazette, which activates the twenty-day registration period.
