Fuente del Maestre announces a permanent computer technician position via competitive examination

The City Council of Fuente del Maestre has announced a selection process to fill, as permanent contractual staff, one position for an IT Specialist through a competitive examination system. The call, signed by the mayor-president Juan Antonio Barrios García, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz number 170, dated September 4, 2026, under Announcement 3493/2026.

The position, vacant in the list of permanent contractual staff positions of the council, corresponds to group C1 in accordance with article 76 of Royal Legislative Decree 5/2016, of October 30, which approves the Revised Text of the Law of the Basic Statute of the Public Employee. The call is supported by the public employment offer for the year 2023, published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura number 235, dated December 11, 2023, and under the powers of article 21.1.g) of Law 7/1985, of April 2, Regulating the Bases of Local Regime.

Requirements and submission of applications

To participate, applicants must meet the requirements set out in the third clause, including:

  • Holding Spanish nationality or meeting the conditions of article 57 of the Basic Statute of the Public Employee.
  • Possessing the functional capacity to perform the tasks, with adaptations for people with a disability of 33% or higher.
  • Being at least sixteen years of age and not exceeding the maximum compulsory retirement age.
  • Not having been dismissed through disciplinary proceedings from any public administration.
  • Holding a Vocational Training Technician degree in the area of informatics and communications, or equivalent.
  • Having paid the examination fee.

The deadline for submitting applications will be 20 business days starting from the day following the publication of the summary of the call in the Official State Gazette. Applications may be submitted through the municipal electronic office, at the general registry of the City Council from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, or at the locations provided for in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure.

Fees and exemptions

The registration fee for group C amounts to 20.00 euros, according to the fiscal ordinance regulating the examination fee (BOP number 16, Announcement 247/2020, of January 24, 2020). The amount must be deposited into account ES58 3009 0006 54 1141 342624 at Caja Rural de Extremadura, indicating the name, surnames, and the word “informático” (IT specialist) in the concept field.

Exempt from payment are those who prove their status as unemployed job seekers, members of special category large families, women victims of gender violence, and people with a disability of 33% or higher.

Phases of the selection process

The selection system will be a competitive examination process (concurso-oposición), with a maximum total score of 28 points. The examination phase, which is eliminatory, consists of two mandatory exercises:

  • A multiple-choice questionnaire of 50 questions (plus 5 reserve questions) with three answer options, within a maximum time of 70 minutes.
  • A theoretical-practical case study related to the specific syllabus, with a maximum time of 2 hours.

The merit phase, which is non-eliminatory, evaluates professional experience with a maximum of 8 points, awarding 0.15 points for each full month of service provided in positions of the same designation and group in any public administration. The tribunal will be composed of a president, three members, and a secretary, with one member necessarily from an administration other than the convening one.

Resolution and job bank

Once the tests are completed, the tribunal will propose the hiring of the person who obtains the highest total score. Applicants who pass the exercises without obtaining a position will form a job bank to meet future temporary staffing needs in the convened category, rendering previous job banks void. Appeals for reversal may be filed against the rules within one month, and contentious-administrative appeals may be filed before the Court of First Instance of the province of Badajoz within two months.

The call for applications represents an opportunity for stable public employment for the Zafra-Río Bodión region, by consolidating a key technical position for the digitalization of municipal services in Fuente del Maestre.
