Prosecutor's Office amends its staff remuneration manual for 2026

FGR updates its salary table in line with the State’s salary policy

The Office of the Attorney General of the Republic published last Monday, August 17, 2026, in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF No. 223/2026) the Agreement A/OM/0002/2026, through which it amends the Manual regulating the remuneration of public servants serving the institution for fiscal year 2026. The document, signed by the Chief Administrative Officer, Laura Angeles Gómez, on August 7, 2026, responds to the salary increase authorized by the Attorney General of the Republic this year, aligned with the salary policies adopted by the Mexican State for Rank-and-File and Trust personnel.

The agreement partially amends Agreement A/OM/001/2026, published on February 26, 2026, which originally established the occupational structure of the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic and issued the current Remuneration Manual. Likewise, it takes into account the Reform to the Organic Statute of the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic, published on April 14, 2026, which introduced changes to the institution’s Administrative Units.

Scope of the amendments

In accordance with the provisions of Agreement A/OM/0002/2026, the reform affects the following components of the Manual:

• Article 26 (reformed): additional benefits are updated for positions in the “Operational Trust” and “Operational Rank-and-File” groups.
• Annex 2 (amended): the amounts in the gross salary and wage schedule are updated.
• Annex 3 (amended): the amounts of economic benefits are adjusted.
• Annex 6 (amended): changes to the occupational structure are incorporated.
• Annex 7 (added): a new annex is incorporated into the Manual.

The codes and designations of the Responsible Units will enter into force in accordance with the authorized structures for purposes of planning, administration, execution, and budgetary control of Chapter 1000 “Personal Services” of the expenditure.

Updated benefits for operational personnel

The agreement reforms Article 26 of the Manual to establish the following additional concepts for positions in the “Operational Trust” and “Operational Rank-and-File” groups, indicated in the “Gross salary and wage schedule”:

• Transportation allowance: $1,240.00 pesos monthly.
• Multiple social welfare: $1,105.00 pesos monthly.
• Services allowance: $1,045.00 pesos monthly.
• Compensation for development and training: $2,400.00 pesos monthly.

This last concept is part of the calculation basis for determining the social security contributions of public servants of the Prosecutor’s Office and the contributions in favor of the Institute for Social Security and Services of State Workers (ISSSTE).

Retroactive effects and effective dates

The agreement contains four transitional provisions with a direct impact on the finances of the personnel of the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic:

• The increases in salaries and wages of Annex 2, as well as the benefits of Article 26 and Annex 3, shall apply retroactively as of January 1, 2026, in accordance with the periods actually worked.
• For levels DP1, DP2, DP3, EQ1, EQ2, EQ3, VY2, VY3, VX2, VW2, VW3, VV2, PQ1, PQ2, PQ3, WX1, WX2, and WX3, the salary table of Annex 2 shall be effective as of August 16, 2026.
• The agreement entered into force on the day following its publication, that is, August 18, 2026.

The Administrative Units of the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic and the National Institute of Criminal Sciences shall carry out the necessary actions to comply with the amendment. The legal basis is found in Article 170, Section XII, of the Organic Statute of the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic, which empowers the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer to issue the Remuneration Manual.

Institutional impact

The update of the Remuneration Manual of the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic comes in a context of administrative restructuring derived from the reform to the Organic Statute published in April 2026, which modified the Administrative Units of the institution. The salary alignment with the policies of the Mexican State seeks to guarantee competitive conditions to attract and retain specialized talent in one of the country’s most relevant security and justice institutions.
