The General Secretariat of Culture of the Regional Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sports of the Junta de Extremadura has resolved to grant aid for a total amount of €300,000.00 for the production of a fiction feature film and a documentary feature film in the Autonomous Community for the year 2026. The decision is detailed in the Resolution of July 30, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura (DOE) number 173, on Monday, September 7, 2026, with reference 2026062247.
The resolution is issued in accordance with the regulatory bases of Decree 153/2024, of December 12, 2024, which establishes the bases for aid for the production of feature films and approves the first call (DOE no. 7, of January 13, 2025), and with the fifteenth section of the Resolution of April 6, 2026, calling for aid for 2026 (DOE no. 82, of 04/30/2026). The grant is based on the minutes of the Evaluation Commission dated June 25, 2026.
Beneficiaries and amounts
The aid is distributed between two production companies, one for each subsidized genre:
- La Pandilla VHS AIE (NIF V10968493), for the fiction feature film La maldición de la mariposa negra, with €250,000.00.
- Belino Producciones S.L. (NIF B88634860), for the documentary feature film El gran Desafío, with €50,000.00.
The amount is charged to the budgetary application 150020000 G/273B/770.00/20040309/CAG0000001 of the General Budgets of the Autonomous Community, with €225,000.00 in the 2027 fiscal year and €75,000.00 in the 2028 fiscal year.
Payment and justification conditions
Payment will be made in two installments: an initial advance payment of 75% of the total amount during 2027, once the final documentation has been received, and the remaining 25% during 2028, after justifying the investment of the approved production budget before November 1, 2028. The deadline for submitting the final justification of the grant is October 31, 2028.
The justification account must include, among others, an activity report, a report from an auditor registered in the Official Registry of Auditors, a comparative report on locations and settings, and copies of the project deposited in the Filmoteca de Extremadura (trailer, feature film in HD MP4, synopsis, poster, and photographic material).
Obligations of the beneficiaries
The beneficiary companies must, among other obligations:
- Make an investment in the territory of Extremadura of at least 100% of the granted aid.
- Allocate at least 50% of the budgeted expenses to Spain or to Spanish authors and artistic, technical, and service teams.
- Notify the General Secretariat of Culture of the start and end dates of filming within a maximum period of 30 days.
- Acknowledge the support of the Junta de Extremadura in all promotional, distribution, and advertising materials, in accordance with the Corporate Identity Manual.
- Maintain ownership of the film rights for three years from its rating.
The resolution also includes a complementary list of applications for the purpose of possible waivers (Annex II) and an Annex III of exclusions, including those of Atekaleum S.L. and Tafalita S.L. for not exceeding the minimum score of 35 points, and those of Tarkemoto S.L. and Atrece Creaciones S.L. due to withdrawal.
The aid is compatible with other public or private subsidies for the same purpose, provided that the total amount does not exceed 50% of the project cost. An administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) may be filed against the resolution before the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Sports within one month of its publication. The resolution, signed in Mérida on July 30, 2026, by the General Secretary of Culture, José Luis Gil Soto, reinforces regional support for an audiovisual sector that must invest in Extremadura an amount equivalent to the aid received, consolidating cinematographic production as a cultural and economic engine for the community.
