Extremadura abre 829.000 euros en ayudas directas para emergencias municipales

The Junta de Extremadura has opened a call for 829,000 euros in direct aid for municipalities and smaller local entities to address emergencies, extraordinary situations, or seasonal and temporary peaks in demand. The call is approved by the Resolution of October 9, 2026, of the General Secretariat of the Vice Presidency and Ministry of Presidency, Coordination of Government Action, Interior and Emergencies, published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura (DOE) number 204, of October 22, 2026, with the official reference 2026062597. Interested entities have 30 business days from the day following publication to submit their application.

The call is supported by Decree 97/2024, of August 27, which establishes the regulatory bases for these subsidies (DOE no. 175, of September 9, 2024), and provides continuity to the program already executed in the 2024 and 2025 fiscal years. According to the resolution, the “reception” by local entities and the results of those previous calls justify maintaining a line of aid aimed at “strengthening the economic-financial situation” of city councils, especially those municipalities with lower economic and management capacity.

The procedure is one of direct granting through an open call, as provided for in Article 6 of Decree 97/2024 and in Article 29.2 of Law 6/2011, of March 23, on Subsidies of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura. Since it does not exceed 900,000 euros, the call does not require prior authorization from the Governing Council. The extract is published with reference 2026062649 and identification number BDNS 936210.

Allocation of credit and origin of funds

The aid is financed with the Autonomous Community’s own funds, charged to Law 2/2026, of August 3, on the General Budgets of Extremadura for 2026 (DOE no. 149, of August 4), within project 20240314 “Line of aid to address emergency situations, extraordinary situations, or higher seasonal or temporary demand”:

  • 614,000 euros in budget application 220060000 G/115B/46000 (fund CAG0000001).
  • 215,000 euros in budget application 220060000 G/115B/76000 (fund CAG0000001).

The resolution provides that the total maximum amount may be increased depending on budget availability, in accordance with Article 29.3 of Law 6/2011.

What can be financed and with what limit

Beneficiaries may be municipalities and smaller local entities of Extremadura that have carried out or intend to carry out any of the subsidizable actions in Article 4 of the regulatory decree. The application annex specifies three types of action:

  • Situations arising from emergencies, public catastrophes, or those posing a risk of accident or danger to people.
  • Severe crises of a sanitary, epidemiological, or public health nature.
  • Situations arising from a significant increase in the number of visitors or residents of the local entity.

The maximum grant is 20,000 euros per beneficiary entity and only a single application per entity is permitted, which may include current expenses, investment expenses, or both. The eligible period spans from January 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027, and payment is made in a single installment after the granting resolution is notified, without the requirement of guarantees.

Deadline, processing, and resolution

The standardized form is available on the Junta de Extremadura portal (https://www.juntaex.es/w/0701124) and the application is addressed to the Secretary General of the Vice Presidency. If the documentation is incomplete, a non-extendable period of 10 days is opened for correction.

Applications are processed in strict order of submission until funds are exhausted. The instruction corresponds to the General Directorate of Local Administration, with a report from the Local Financing Coordination Service, and the resolution is issued by the Secretary General within a maximum period of three months; a lack of notification allows it to be understood as rejected by administrative silence. An administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) may be filed against the resolution before the Vice President and Councilor within one month. The text is signed in Mérida, on October 9, 2026, by the Secretary General, David González Gil.

The call extends to all Extremaduran municipalities and smaller local entities, such that any city council facing an emergency, a health crisis, or a temporary increase in population during the coming months can resort to this immediate liquidity line, without comparison between applications and based solely on the criterion of order of arrival.
