El Ronquillo convoca la plaza de juez de paz titular y sustituto

The El Ronquillo City Council has opened the public call to fill the vacancies for titular justice of the peace and substitute justice of the peace of the municipality, according to the announcement signed by the mayor-president, Ana Vizcaíno Navarro, and published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Seville number 207, dated October 26, 2026 (reference BOP-SE-2026-207019, pages 103-105). Interested parties have 15 business days, counted from the day following the publication of the announcement, to submit their application at the municipal Registry or through the electronic Office.

The municipal agreement activating the procedure

The file begins with a proposal report from the municipal Secretariat dated October 6, 2026, which details the applicable regulations and the procedure to be followed. On that basis, the City Council Plenary, in an ordinary session on October 9, 2026, approved the initiation of the file and authorized the Mayor’s Office to issue the opening resolution through the corresponding call.

The resolution is based on articles 101, 102, and 103 of the Organic Law 6/1985, of July 1, of the Judiciary, and on article 21 of the Law 7/1985, of April 2, regulating the Bases of the Local Regime. The development of the process refers to articles 101 and 102 of the LOPJ itself and to articles 5 and following of the Regulation number 3/1995, of June 7, of the Justices of the Peace, approved by agreement of the General Council of the Judiciary and published in the BOE on July 13, 1995.

Requirements to be a candidate

Those who meet the legal conditions may be appointed as justices of the peace, both titular and substitute, even if they do not hold a law degree, provided they meet the requirements for entry into the Judicial Career except those derived from retirement by age, and that this does not constitute a physical or psychological impediment to the position.

  • Be Spanish and of legal age.
  • Not incur the causes of incompatibility in articles 389 to 397 of the Organic Law of the Judiciary nor those in Regulation number 3/1995.
  • Submit a photocopy of the DNI, a sworn statement, and a curriculum vitae.
  • The sworn statement must certify the absence of criminal records, that the person is not being prosecuted or indicted for an intentional crime, the full exercise of civil rights, the absence of physical or psychological impediment, and a commitment to reside in the locality, unless authorized by the Governing Chamber of the High Court of Justice.

Teaching or legal research and professional or commercial activities that do not involve legal advice nor undermine the impartiality of the position are compatible. If the chosen person incurs an incompatibility, the Governing Chamber may appoint them, granting a period of eight days to prove the cessation of the activity; failure to do so will be understood as a resignation.

Deadlines, rectification, and election by the Plenary

The submission period is 15 business days from the day following the publication of the announcement in the Official Gazette of the Province of Seville. The application form is available at the Municipal Secretariat and on the City Council website. If the Mayor’s Office has doubts regarding the documentation, it may request accreditation of the required details, with a deadline of 10 business days from the notification via the electronic office.

Applications submitted within the deadline will be submitted to the City Council Plenary at its first session, which will choose the suitable person among the interested parties with the legally established absolute majority quorum. The call for applications is disseminated via edict in the Official Gazette of the Province, on the City Council notice board, and on the notice board of the local Justice of the Peace.

Filling the position directly affects the residents of El Ronquillo: the justice of the peace is the closest judicial reference in the daily life of the municipality, with competencies in matters such as the celebration of civil marriages, the performance of proceedings, and the processing of small claims matters. The election by absolute majority of the Plenary, among candidates who do not require a law degree, underscores the community and proximity nature of the position, whose continuity now depends on sufficient applicants coming forward for the two vacancies.
