The Principality announces 230 Nursing Assistant positions

The Principality of Asturias has announced selective tests for the provision of 230 positions in the category of Nursing Assistant, Group D, under a permanent labor staff regime. The call is approved by Resolution of September 11, 2026, from the Department of Presidency, Demographic Challenge, Equality, and Tourism, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias (BOPA) no. 180, of September 17, 2026 (Code 2026-07587). The process combines in a single call the positions of this category pending from the 2024 and 2025 public employment offers.

A single process combining two employment offers

The first basis of the call explains that the 2024 public employment offer was approved by Agreement of the Governing Council of December 27, 2024 (BOPA of 12/31/2024) and that of 2025 by Agreement of the Governing Council of December 22, 2025 (BOPA of 12/29/2025). In application of the principles of efficacy, economy, and efficiency, the Department combines the 2024 Nursing Assistant positions not yet called with those of 2025 to resolve them in a single selective process.

The resolution is issued by virtue of the competence attributed to the Councilor in article 14.f) of the Law of the Principality of Asturias 2/2023, of March 15, on Public Employment, and is governed, among other regulations, by Royal Legislative Decree 5/2015 (Basic Statute of the Public Employee), Decree 6/2012, of February 16, Decree 68/1989, of May 4, and the V Collective Agreement of the labor personnel of the Administration of the Principality of Asturias.

Distribution of the 230 positions

The distribution by shift and employment offer is as follows:

• OEP 2024: 93 ordinary internal promotion positions, 6 internal promotion positions for people with disabilities, 25 ordinary open access positions, and 4 open access positions for people with disabilities.
• OEP 2025: 68 ordinary internal promotion positions, 4 internal promotion positions for people with disabilities, 24 ordinary open access positions, and 6 open access positions for people with disabilities.
• Total for the call: 161 ordinary internal promotion positions, 10 internal promotion positions for people with disabilities, 49 ordinary open access positions, and 10 open access positions for people with disabilities.

Internal promotion positions that remain vacant will be automatically added to the ordinary open shift, and those reserved for people with disabilities that are not filled will be added to the corresponding ordinary shift.

Requirements, deadlines, and fee

Applicants must hold the title of Nursing Assistant Technician or a specific equivalent degree, be at least 16 years of age and not exceed the maximum compulsory retirement age, and pay a registration fee of 8.50 euros. For the internal promotion track, the status of permanent and active labor personnel of group D or E is required, in a category other than the one called for, with a minimum seniority of two years.

The deadline for submitting applications is 20 business days from the day following the publication of the rules in the BOPA, and processing is exclusively electronic through the “Adolfo Posada” Asturian Institute of Public Administration (IAAP). The tests may not begin until three months have passed since the publication of the call.

How applicants are examined

The internal promotion track is resolved by competition-examination: a multiple-choice test of 40 questions plus 5 reserve questions, with a maximum of 55 minutes, graded from 0 to 40 points and requiring a minimum of 20 points to pass. Subsequently, the competition phase is evaluated according to the scale of article 43 of the V Collective Agreement, which scores seniority, membership in a lower category, qualifications, and accredited training.

The open track is resolved by examination, with a single test consisting of two exercises held in a single session: one theoretical and one practical, with 40 questions each, a maximum time of 100 minutes, and a grade of 0 to 20 points per exercise. According to the public draw of March 9, 2026 (announcement in BOPA on 03/16/2026), the call-up will begin with applicants whose first surname starts with the letter “P”.

Temporary employment list and destination

The call also serves to form the temporary employment list for the category: obtaining at least 20 net correct answers in the test will suffice. Applicants who pass will have 20 business days to indicate the assignment zones in which they wish to be called.

The documentation for hiring shall be presented to the Autonomous Body of Residential Establishments for the Elderly of Asturias, and the choice of destination will be made in order of final score. The Qualifying Board will be headquartered at the IAAP, at Avenida Julián Clavería no. 11, Oviedo.

The call affects a significant volume of public employment in the Asturian health and social-health sector, where the category of Nursing Assistant supports a large part of the care in nursing homes and elderly centers. Against the resolution, which exhausts the administrative route, an optional appeal for reversal may be filed within one month or a lawsuit before the Social Courts within two months.
