The IVC calls for 395,000 euros for documentaries on living Valencian traditions

The Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVC) has announced grants for the audiovisual production of documentaries on living traditions and traditional artisanal sectors of the Comunitat Valenciana, with a multi-year allocation of 395,000 euros distributed between 2026, 2027, and 2028. The resolution, dated September 21, 2026, is signed by Ignacio Prieto Mansanet, Director General of Culture, and is published in the Diari Oficial de la Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV) no. 10458, of September 24, 2026, with official reference DOGV-C-2026-30028.

The call is based on the regulatory bases approved by the Resolution of January 19, 2026, of the Department of Education, Culture, and Universities (DOGV 10285, of 01.21.2026), and on the Strategic Grant Plan 2024-2027, which includes the aid line S2060, the objective of which is to promote the production and dissemination of Valencian audiovisuals. The authority to call for and grant these aids corresponds to the Director General of Culture by virtue of the delegation established in the Resolution of June 16, 2026, of the Presidency of the IVC (DOGV 10389, of 06.22.2026).

Allocation and aid modalities

The funding comes from section G0109, entity 016 Institut Valencià de Cultura, line S2060, chapter 7, with the following breakdown by year:

• Fiscal year 2026: 300,000.00 euros.
• Fiscal year 2027: 26,250.00 euros.
• Fiscal year 2028: 68,750.00 euros.

The amounts for 2027 and 2028 are subject to the existence of adequate and sufficient credit in the budget laws of the Generalitat. The amount is distributed into two modalities:

• Documentary, feature films: 320,000 euros, with a maximum of 80,000 euros per grant.
• Documentary, short films and multiplatform: 75,000 euros, with a maximum of 25,000 euros per grant.

Advance payments of up to 65% of the granted amount are permitted, requested by the beneficiary and without the obligation to provide guarantees, in accordance with Law 4/2026, of July 22, on the Generalitat budgets for 2026.

Requirements and submission of applications

Natural persons (self-employed) or legal entities established in a Member State of the European Union or the European Economic Area who are professionally dedicated to production, have the status of independent producers, and have a permanent establishment in the Comunitat Valenciana at the time the aid is granted may apply for the grants. Groups of natural and legal persons in co-production and economic interest groupings (AIE) may also apply.

The submission period is ten business days from the day following the publication of the call in the DOGV, via the IVC electronic registry. Each applicant may not submit more than two projects nor be the beneficiary of more than one grant. The documentation is organized into two blocks: block I includes the production report, the directing report, the script, and the synopsis; block II includes the self-assessment sheet, the work plan, and the budget sheet.

Evaluation criteria and calendar

Projects are scored up to a maximum of 100 points, and those that do not reach 50 points cannot be proposed as beneficiaries. Key criteria include:

• Script: up to 30 points for feature films and 35 for short films and multiplatform.
• Participation of Valencian technical teams: up to 21 points.
• Investment in the territory of the Comunitat Valenciana: up to 6 points.
• Original version in Valencian and status as a Valencian company: 5 points for each criterion.
• Hiring of Valencian service companies: up to 3 points.

In each modality, there must be gender parity in directing: at least 40% of the subsidized productions must be directed by men and at least 40% by women. Subsidized activities may be carried out until November 30, 2028, and the resolution will be issued within a maximum period of three months from publication. The General Directorate declares urgent processing, which reduces the deadlines for correction and allegations to the provisional resolution proposal to five business days. The grants comply with Regulation (EU) 651/2014, with Commission case number SA.114915.

The call targets the Valencian audiovisual sector as its direct recipient and uses intangible heritage as raw material: festivals, trades, and knowledge passed down from generation to generation become eligible subjects for documentaries. For independent production companies in the Comunitat, the calendar is tight—ten business days—and the requirement to prove technical teams and local spending turns the grant into an instrument of industrial, not only cultural, rooting.
