The Canary Islands Institute for Equality gives thirteen associations ten days to rectify their applications

The Canarian Institute for Equality has given a deadline of ten business days to thirteen women’s associations to rectify the defects detected in their grant applications for 2026, under warning that, if they fail to do so, they will be considered to have withdrawn their request. This is established by the Resolution of August 13, 2026, signed by director Ana Padrón Brito, published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) no. 170, of August 25, 2026 (page 33223), with case number 1/2026-0505112655 and reference SUCON/2026/99.

Framework of the call

The grants are part of the call for subsidies, under a competitive bidding process, aimed at fostering associationism and promoting the social participation of women in the Canary Islands for the year 2026. The call was approved by Resolution no. 150/2026, of May 18, an extract of which was published in BOC no. 103, of May 28, 2026 (code BDNS 906376).

The procedure is governed by the regulatory bases approved by the Order of September 20, 2016, of the former Ministry of Presidency, Justice and Equality, published in BOC no. 187, of September 26, 2016. The deadline for submitting applications ended on June 17, 2026, and after examining the documentation, rectifiable defects were detected in accordance with regulatory base 7 and article 68.1 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure.

Required entities and defects to be corrected

The deficiencies affect documentation such as certifications of the board of directors, project reports, income and expenditure forecasts, or secretary signatures on the annexes. Among the required entities are:

• Asociación de Mujeres Gara and Asociación de Mujeres Valentina: certification of the composition of the board of directors.
• Asociación Unidas Creando Materia: complete point 14 of annex V and rectify a discrepancy of €300 between expenses and income.
• Federación de Asociaciones de Mujeres Arena y Laurisilva: clarify the cleaning expense in annex IV.
• Asociación de Reinserción Social de Menores Anchieta: complete the sections on subcontracting and advertising.
• Asociación para el Desarrollo Integral de la Mujer Mercedes Machado: include the web hosting expense and clarify the accounting and tax consultancy.
• Asociación para el Apoyo Integral a la Mujer (“Vacúnate contra la Violencia 2026” and “Escuela de Empoderamiento” projects): detail hired personnel and number of female beneficiaries.
• Asociación Social ONG Progreso en Canarias: detail personnel, current expenses, and advertising.
• Asociación de Cuidadoras Familiares y Amistades de Personas con Dependencia Alzheimer y otras Demencias: secretary’s signature is missing from annexes II and III.
• Asoc Romí Camela Nakerar: complete the sections on fees, current expenses, and advertising.
• Asociación de Mujeres Empresarias Profesionales y Directivas Charter 100 Canarias: certificate of being up to date with the AEAT.
• Asociación Salud Mental ATELSAM: secretary’s signature is missing from annexes II and III.

How to rectify and consequences

The documentation must be submitted through the electronic office of the Government of the Canary Islands, under procedure 4156, in the personal area, via the “submit documents” tab. The ten-business-day period is calculated from the day following the publication of the resolution in the bulletin.

If the entities do not rectify within the deadline, they will be considered to have withdrawn their request, following a resolution issued in accordance with article 21 of Law 39/2015. No appeal may be filed against this procedural act.

Relevance

The resolution directly affects the funding of equality and social participation projects for women in the Canary Islands, from empowerment schools to initiatives against gender-based violence. Compliance with the deadline is decisive to ensure that associations do not lose access to the 2026 grants, in a context of competitive bidding where incomplete documentation could exclude entities from the islands’ female associative fabric.
