The Electoral Census changes five polling stations in four municipalities of León
Por FactBox Admin

The Provincial Delegation of the Electoral Census Office in León has made public the change of five polling stations in four municipalities of the province for the General Court elections on November 29, 2026. The town halls of Castropodame, Chozas de Abajo, Matadeón de los Oteros, and Soto de la Vega justified the need to modify the venues announced on October 12. The announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of León no. 202, dated October 23, 2026, with the official reference BOP-LE-2026-202028.
The legal framework of the correction
The change is supported by Article 24.2 of the Organic Law of the General Electoral Regime, which requires the public disclosure of the list of electoral sections, venues, and polling stations that must be established in each call. The first list was disseminated in the Extraordinary Official Gazette of the Province no. 2, dated October 12, 2026 (reference BOP-LE-E-2026-002001), with the section boundaries set for the census closed on August 1, 2026.
Following that publication, various town halls in the province notified the provincial delegation of the need to change some of the announced venues, which has resulted in this corrected list of affected polling stations. The document was electronically signed in León on October 22, 2026, by the provincial delegate, José Ignacio Alonso Cimadevilla, and is headed with the seal of the National Statistics Institute and the Electoral Census Office.
The five affected polling stations
- Castropodame — District 01, section 001, table A: voters registered in Calamocos, Castropodame, Turienzo Castañero, and Villaverde de los Cestos; new venue at the Casa del Pueblo de Castropodame, calle Principal 39.
- Chozas de Abajo — District 01, section 001, table C: voters registered in Cembranos; new venue at the Casa de Cultura de Cembranos, avenida Príncipe Felipe 23.
- Chozas de Abajo — District 01, section 002, table U: voters registered in Meizara, Mozondiga, and Villar de Mazarife; new venue at the Medical Clinic of Villar de Mazarife, calle León 51.
- Matadeón de los Oteros — District 01, section 001, table U: voters registered throughout the municipal district; new venue at the Town Hall Hall, avenida Constitución 23.
- Soto de la Vega — District 01, section 001, table C: voters registered in Huerga de Garaballes; new venue at the Public School of Huerga de Garaballes, plaza Iglesia 2.
What this implies for voters
The change affects only the location of the polling station, not the table assignment: voters retain their district, section, and table, but must go to the new address on voting day. In the case of Chozas de Abajo, two different tables are corrected, one in section 001 and another in section 002, while in Matadeón de los Oteros, the transfer affects the only table in the section, which brings together the entire census of the municipality.
The published list identifies each table by municipality, district, section, and letter, and accompanies each one with the full address of the new location, so that the voter can locate their polling point without consulting additional documentation.
Inquiry and verification
The boundaries of the electoral sections and the list of locations can be consulted both at the Provincial Delegation of the Electoral Census Office and at the respective city councils, as stated in the publication itself. The announcement occupies the last page of the provincial bulletin of October 23 and can be verified on the electronic headquarters of the Diputación de León using its electronic verification code.
This correction is added to the general list disseminated twelve days prior, which detailed in the extraordinary bulletin the set of sections, locations, and tables of the province for the elections on November 29.
The publication arrives slightly more than five weeks before the electoral date, a margin that allows city councils to signpost the new spaces and voters in these four localities to rearrange their travel plans. For the affected municipalities, mostly small in size and with tables that group several local entities, the change of location is the only relevant adjustment of the call and directly affects the voting day for its residents.
