Baix Empordà announces six first-class gardener positions at Tramuntana

Por FactBox Admin

The Baix Empordà County Council has announced six first-class gardener positions on a permanent staff basis at the Tramuntana Special Employment Centre and Occupational Centre. The call, approved by presidency decree number 2026-1668, of 12 August 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Girona (BOP) number 155, of 13 August 2026, with reference BOP-2026_0_155_7342.

The six positions, group C, subgroup C1, will be filled through the open competition-opposition system and derive from the County Council’s Public Employment Offer for 2025, in application of the ordinary staff replacement rate of Law 31/2022, of 23 December. The same call provides for the creation of a recruitment pool to cover temporary needs and is governed by the consolidated text of the Basic Statute of Public Employees (Royal Legislative Decree 5/2015). The notice is digitally signed by the president of the Council, Enric Marquès Serra.

A permanent position with technical gardening tasks

The position has assigned functions of maintenance and conservation of green areas: planting, pruning of trees and palm trees, phytosanitary treatments, installation and maintenance of irrigation systems and driving machinery with a class B driving licence. It also includes support and training tasks for staff with functional diversity and for new additions to job insertion programmes. The characteristics of the position are:

  • 40-hour working week and two extra annual payments.
  • Annual gross remuneration of €23,552.76.
  • Location: any Tramuntana workplace.

Requirements and submission of applications

To participate, you must have Spanish nationality or that of a European Union state, be 16 years old, hold a category B1 driving licence and prove an elementary level of Catalan (B1), among other conditions. The required qualification is the ESO graduate, the school graduate, or an intermediate-level vocational training qualification or equivalent. The applications:

  • Are submitted preferably through the Convoca platform or in person at the Council’s General Registry, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Have a deadline of 20 working days counted from the day after the publication of the announcement in the Official Gazette of the Government of Catalonia.
  • Require payment of €15 as examination fees for group C1 positions.

Examination, competitive process and hiring

The examination phase is worth up to 70 points and includes the Catalan test —and Spanish for non-Spanish applicants—, a 40-question test with a maximum of 30 points and a minimum of 15 to pass it, and a practical test of solving case scenarios, with a maximum of 40 points and a minimum of 20. The competition phase adds up to 30 points: up to 20 for professional experience and up to 10 for training related to the position. A panel of at least five members, with gender parity between men and women, will grade the tests, and hiring will be subject to a two-month probationary period.

Job pool and future outlook

Candidates who pass the minimum score without obtaining a position are included in the job pool, valid for two years, extendable, to cover temporary needs. Up to 50% of the vacancies arising in the public employment offers of 2025, 2026 and 2027 linked to this position will be awarded to approved candidates without a position. The list of admitted and excluded candidates will be published within a maximum of one month from the end of the application deadline, and hiring must take place within the month following publication of the final results.

The call is especially relevant because Tramuntana is a special employment centre dedicated to the labour insertion of people with functional diversity: the specific syllabus includes action guidelines with workers with functional diversity and the regulations applicable to special employment centres. For readers, it represents an opportunity for stable access to county public employment in a field, gardening, with a need for qualified profiles.
