The Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid publishes this Friday, August 28, 2026, in issue number 205, the Resolution of August 4, 2026, from the General Directorate of Labor of the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Employment, by which the collective agreement for the Cinema Sector (Exhibition) is registered, deposited, and published. The text, with code 28000585011981, was signed on July 3, 2026, by the Spanish Cinema Federation (FECE) and the unions Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) and Unión General de Trabajadores (UGT).
The agreement, which comes into effect from January 1, 2026, and extends until December 31, 2028, regulates the labor and salary conditions of workers in cinematographic exhibition companies located in the region, even if their legal domicile is outside the Community of Madrid. The resolution was signed by the Director General of Labor, Silvia Marina Parra Rudilla.
Salary Increases and Working Hours
The agreement sets general salary increases over the previous year’s concepts: 3.5% in 2026, 3.25% in 2027, and 3.25% in 2028, already reflected in the attached salary tables. The maximum annual working day is established at 1,760 hours for the entire duration, with a preferably continuous daily shift and a maximum of nine hours of effective work, extendable to ten due to programming needs.
- Vacations: 32 calendar days per year, not substitutable by financial compensation.
- Weekly rest: two consecutive days, with 36 hours of rest.
- Night shift: 25% increase for hours worked from 22:00 onwards.
- Seniority triennials: €50.62 (2026), €52.27 (2027), and €53.97 (2028), with a maximum of six triennials.
Professional Classification and Contracting
Personnel are categorized into three professional groups: Group I (administrative, levels 1 and 2), Group II (customer service or general services, levels 1 to 3), and Group III (management and projection booth, levels 1 to 4). Functional mobility is contemplated, with consolidation of the higher level when higher functions are performed for more than six months in one year or eight in two.
Regarding contracting, all contracts shall be permanent and indefinite, promoting indefinite hiring through a four-month probationary period. The part-time permanent seasonal contract is regulated, with call-ups five calendar days in advance, and the part-time contract with a minimum working day of 12 hours per week and complementary hours limited to 45% of the working day.
Reconciliation, Health and Social Protection
The agreement recognizes paid leave, including 17 days for marriage, five days for the death or serious illness of relatives, two days for relocation, and two annual days for personal matters. Suspension for birth and childcare reaches 19 weeks, extendable to 32 in cases of single parenthood. The right to digital disconnection is guaranteed, and protocols against sexual harassment and gender-based harassment are incorporated, as well as planned LGBTI equality measures for companies with more than 50 employees.
Regarding occupational health, the company supplements the accident benefit up to 25% from day 1 to 120, and pays 100% of the salary for illness from the first to the third day. A collective policy is signed with capitals of €2,043 for natural death, €6,129 for occupational accidents, and €8,172 for absolute permanent disability. The longevity bonus for those reaching retirement reaches up to €2,653.66 in 2026 for more than 40 years of seniority.
The publication of this agreement provides legal certainty to thousands of cinema workers in the region, whose salaries and conditions are protected for three years in a sector marked by seasonality and part-time contracting. The text, which will be tacitly extended for annual periods if not denounced before December 31, 2028, also reinforces work-life balance and equality in a traditionally precarious labor environment.
