Por FactBox Admin

The General Directorate of Livestock of the Government of Cantabria has called for an auction for the disposal of the dairy production of the Gama Estate, corresponding to the period between October 1, 2026, and September 30, 2027. The announcement is published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria number 164, dated August 26, 2026, with the official reference CVE-2026-6659.
The call arises from the resolution of the counselor for Rural Development, Livestock, Fisheries and Food, dated August 17, 2026, which authorizes the disposal of the sales contract for the milk produced on the estates of the Government of Cantabria. The announcement was signed in Santander on August 18, 2026, by the general director of Livestock, Alfredo Álvarez Ruiz.
Object and economic conditions
Approximately 100,000 annual liters of milk are being auctioned at a minimum price of 430 euros per 1,000 liters, which sets the minimum value of the contract at 43,000 euros. The production comes from the Gama Estate, which is in transition toward a farm of Pasiega breed cows, in order to promote the conservation of this indigenous breed.
To take part in the auction, it is essential to establish a guarantee equivalent to 25% of the minimum valuation amount of the contract, i.e., 10,750 euros, which shall be accredited along with the bid using model 046 in the virtual office of the Treasury of Cantabria, under concept 6103 “Cash deposits Government of Cantabria. Auctions”.
Participation and documentation
First milk buyers registered with LETRA Q and AICA may participate. Those who have applied for or have been declared in bankruptcy, have been declared insolvent, are subject to judicial intervention, or have been disqualified according to Law 22/2003, of July 9, on Insolvency, as well as those who are not up to date with tax and Social Security obligations, are excluded.
Bids shall be submitted through the common electronic registry, in procedure 5823 “Milk contract auction”, in a sealed envelope, within a period of 20 calendar days from the publication of the announcement. The required documentation includes:
- Bid in accordance with annex I of Royal Decree 95/2019, of March 1, on contracting conditions in the dairy sector.
- Copy of model 046 of the established guarantee.
- Responsible declaration of not incurring any prohibition from being an acquirer nor any incompatibilities.
Board, award, and deliveries
The Auction Board will be chaired by the head of the Animal Production Service, with members from the Livestock Reproduction and Improvement Section, an animal reproduction technician, and a dairy levy manager. The award will be made by evaluating the offered price per 1,000 liters, based on the fixed price and the estimation of variables and penalties.
The final resolution will be the responsibility of the Counselor for Rural Development, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food, and will be notified to all bidders. The successful bidder must formalize the contract within 10 calendar days from the notification. The milk shall be delivered at the source, with a maximum collection period of two calendar days from milking, and quality will be determined through analyses by the Interprofessional Dairy Laboratory of Cantabria.
Relevance for the sector
This auction offers dairy buyers and processors in the region the opportunity to secure a stable volume of public-origin milk throughout the 2026-2027 campaign, within a framework regulated by Law 3/2006, of April 18, on the Heritage of the Autonomous Community of Cantabria. At the same time, the operation supports the conservation of the Pasiega breed, a livestock and heritage asset of Cantabria, by guaranteeing a commercial outlet for the production of a farm in full livestock transition.
