Cantabria regulates practical training grants for postgraduates in industrial innovation

The Official Gazette of Cantabria number 178, dated September 16, 2026, publishes Order IND/45/2026, of September 8, which establishes the regulatory bases for the granting of practical training scholarships aimed at postgraduates in the General Directorate of Innovation, Technological Development and Industrial Entrepreneurship. The regulation, signed by counselor Eduardo Arasti Barca, opens the door to a new call for applications under a competitive process for young graduates.

The order is framed within the Cantabria Law 10/2006, of July 17, on Cantabria Subsidies, which requires that aid charged to budget credits without nominative allocation be granted based on criteria of publicity, free competition, and objectivity. The framework is completed by Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Subsidies, and Royal Decree 887/2006, of July 21, which approves its regulation.

Two fields of specialization

The practical training is organized into two distinct groups according to the applicants’ degree:

• Group I: training activities in innovation and technological development, industrial entrepreneurship, and information and communication technologies, aimed at graduates in Law, double Degree in Law and Business Administration and Management, Economics, and Business Administration and Management.
• Group II: area of dissemination and communication of innovative culture, aimed at graduates in Marketing, Advertising, or Journalism.

In both cases, a university degree with a minimum duration of four years is required. Group I activities will focus on the management of European Union funds, entrepreneurship programs, the study of justifying accounts for public subsidies, and the processing of administrative appeals; Group II activities will focus on web content management, social networks, and data processing.

Requirements and procedure

To apply for the scholarship, applicants must meet a series of conditions, including that no more than three years have passed from the issuance of the degree until the end of the application submission period. Candidates without Spanish nationality must prove a B2 level or higher of Spanish through the DELE, certificates from Official Language Schools, or other equivalent documents.

The procedure will be initiated ex officio through a call approved by order of the head of the department, an extract of which will be published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria. The application submission period will be 15 business days from the day following that publication, and applications shall be submitted through the General Electronic Registry of the Administration of Cantabria on the electronic headquarters.

Assessment, amount, and duration

The selection will be carried out in two phases: a first phase for the assessment of merits, with a maximum of 20 points, and a second, optional phase consisting of a personal interview before the Assessment Committee, with up to 5 points. In the first phase, the academic record (up to 10 points), other studies, training courses, professional experience, and languages are scored.

• The scholarship will have a duration of one year, exceptionally extendable for another 12 months.
• The amount will be 800 gross euros per month, subject to IRPF (personal income tax) withholding.
• The maximum period for resolution will be six months from the publication of the call summary.
• The enjoyment of the scholarship will not imply any labor or contractual link with the Administration.

The order will enter into force on the day following its publication in the Official Gazette of Cantabria. With this regulation, the Government of Cantabria consolidates a stable instrument to attract young talent in the field of innovation and industrial entrepreneurship, offering recent graduates a path for practical specialization within the regional administration and strengthening the pool of professionals in a strategic sector for the Cantabrian economy.
