Cantabria announces 30,000 euros in funding for summer night transport

The Ministry of Development, Housing, Territorial Planning and Environment of the Government of Cantabria has approved the call for grants destined for seasonal regular night public passenger transport lines, with a maximum allocation of 30,000 euros. The measure is published as an extract of the Resolution of August 14, 2026, in the Official Gazette of Cantabria number 160, dated August 20, 2026, with reference CVE-2026-6605.

The grants are awarded on a competitive basis and are processed through the abbreviated procedure provided for in Article 28 of the Cantabria Law 10/2006, of July 17, on Cantabria Grants. The extract is published in accordance with Articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17, and the full text is available in the National Grants Database with identifier BDNS 925057.

Purpose and Regulatory Framework

The call, corresponding to the 2026 financial year, finances night services provided between 10:00 PM and 6:30 AM that have been authorized within the framework of a general-use public transport service under the jurisdiction of the Autonomous Community of Cantabria, during the summer period between June 15 and September 15, 2026.

The regulatory bases are set out in Order FOM/9/2026, of July 29, published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria number 149, dated August 5, 2026. The credit is charged to the budgetary application 04.04.453C.471.03 “Other grants for the promotion of transport of social interest” of the General Budgets of the Autonomous Community of Cantabria for 2026.

Beneficiaries and Requirements

Beneficiaries may be operators of general-use regular transport services under regional ownership that provide night services restricted to the summer period. Those who fall into any of the situations provided for in Article 12.2 of Cantabria Law 10/2006 and Article 13.2 of Law 38/2003 are excluded.

  • Operators of general-use regular transport under regional ownership.
  • Night services between 10:00 PM and 6:30 AM.
  • Services restricted to the summer period (June 15 to September 15).

Deadline and Submission of Applications

The deadline for submitting applications is 15 days starting from the day following the publication of the extract in the Official Gazette of Cantabria. Applications shall be addressed to the Minister of Development, Housing, Territorial Planning and Environment, Roberto Media Sainz, using the standardized form in Annex I of the order.

  • Submission via the General Electronic Registry of the Administration of the Autonomous Community of Cantabria.
  • Processing through the electronic office of the Government of Cantabria (https://sede.cantabria.es/).
  • Admission in strict order of entry, with a waiting list once the budget has been exhausted.

The call, signed in Santander on August 14, 2026, reinforces the Cantabrian Executive’s commitment to guaranteeing nighttime mobility during the months of highest tourist and leisure activity, benefiting both transport operators and users of summer services in the community.
