Cabra approves housing aid for seniors and following catastrophes

The Cabra City Council has definitively approved the regulatory bases for subsidies for the Basic Functional Adaptation of Housing and Extraordinary Aid for the recovery of habitability after an accident or catastrophe, as no claims were filed during the public information period. The agreement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Córdoba number 168, dated August 31, 2026, via an edict signed by the acting mayor, Encarnación Priego Jiménez.

The bases were initially approved by the Plenary Council in an ordinary session held on June 29, 2026, and remained open for public information for 30 days, from July 13 to August 24, 2026, following their publication in BOP number 133. Since no allegations or suggestions were registered, the text is considered definitively approved, and it will enter into force fifteen business days after its publication, in accordance with Article 49 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, regulating the Bases of Local Regime.

Two lines of aid for the residents of Cabra

The program, managed by the Social Policies Area, is structured on a competitive basis and includes three eligible modalities:

• Functional adaptation works for the home: replacing bathtubs with showers, widening doors, ramps, non-slip flooring, and improvement of gas or electricity installations.
• Acquisition of technical aids and functional means: wheelchairs, articulated beds, hoists, lift seats, and other devices to support mobility and autonomy.
• Extraordinary aid to recover the habitability of homes affected by catastrophes or serious non-provoked accidents, such as fires, floods, or earthquakes.

Who can apply

Beneficiaries of the adaptation aid may be people over 65 years of age, people with disabilities, those in a state of dependency, or those with limitations in mobility or personal autonomy, provided they have resided in Cabra for at least one year and at least two months in the home subject to the intervention. The extraordinary aid is aimed at individuals or family units with accredited residence in the municipality for at least one year and two months in the affected home.

The subsidy may not exceed 80% of the cost of the intervention, and the beneficiary must contribute at least 20% from their own funds. The deadline for submitting applications will be 30 calendar days from the publication of each call, and the maximum period for resolution will be six months.

Assessment and priority criteria

Applications will be assessed by an Evaluation Commission of the Social Policy Area, chaired by the mayor or their delegate, based on economic and socio-family criteria. Scoring will be based on the household income relative to the IPREM, and positive discrimination criteria will be applied for single-parent families, large families, victims of gender-based violence, or those with children under three years old, as well as according to the recognized degree of dependency or disability.

The final resolution shall be the responsibility of the mayor-president and will be published on the edicts board of the City Council’s electronic headquarters, replacing personal notification. Applications that are not successful due to the exhaustion of funds will form a reserve list ordered by score.

The final approval of these guidelines consolidates a social support instrument aimed at the most vulnerable groups in Cabra, facilitating the adaptation of homes to the mobility and autonomy needs of their residents and offering a protection network in the event of unforeseen loss of habitability due to catastrophes or accidents.
