Cabanas abre o prazo de axudas ao estudo para o curso 2026/2027

The Cabanas City Council has opened the public call for study grants for the 2026/2027 school year, aimed at families with students aged 23 or younger registered in the municipality. The guidelines were published in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña (BOP) number 178, dated September 17, 2026, under announcement number 2026/5994. The application period will remain open from the day following the publication of the call’s summary and will end 10 days later.

The regulatory bases were approved by Mayoral Resolution 2026-0754, dated September 11, and the summary was published in accordance with articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Subsidies. The call is registered in the National Subsidy Database with the identifier BDNS 929186. The announcement is signed by the mayor-president, Fernando Couce Rodríguez, dated September 14, 2026.

The declared objective is to make effective the principle of equality in the exercise of the right to education, compensating families who, due to their economic conditions, face greater difficulties in meeting the expenses derived from schooling. The grants are part of a social welfare policy to alleviate the effects of the crisis, social differences, and risks of exclusion, and to promote the integration of boys and girls into the educational system and families into the training-labor context.

Who can apply for the grants

  • Mothers, fathers, guardians, or foster families of one or more students aged 23 or younger.
  • Have the students as dependents and be registered in the Cabanas City Council.
  • Enrollment in preschool, primary, or secondary education in any of the municipality’s educational centers, except in cases where no place exists and the inspection determines the transfer to centers in other localities.
  • Or alternatively, be enrolled in baccalaureate, vocational training in a public educational center in other nearby municipalities, university, or special education centers.
  • Be up to date with tax obligations to the Cabanas City Council, the State Tax Administration Agency, Social Security, and the autonomous community’s Treasury.
  • Meet the requirements of article 13 of Law 38/2003 and not exceed the income established by the economic scale in article 8 of the bases.

Amounts according to educational level

  • Preschool Education: up to 100 euros.
  • Primary Education: up to 125 euros.
  • Secondary Education and Baccalaureate: up to 175 euros.
  • Vocational Training, University, and Special Education Centers: up to 200 euros.

The amount per student is made effective via bank transfer once the application has been evaluated and the expense has been justified through the invoice for the purchase of materials. The grants are compatible with any other that may be received for the same purpose from public or private entities, provided that the combined amounts do not exceed the cost of the subsidized school materials.

Documentation and method of submission

  • Application signed by the interested person according to the specific model in Annex I, completed in its entirety.
  • Photocopy of the DNI of the adult members of the family unit and a photocopy of the family book.
  • School enrollment or school certificate.
  • Proof of income for the members of the family unit (last income tax return of all members if not joint, or a certificate of tax data issued by the Tax Agency).
  • Accrediting copy of disability or dependency of any child in the family unit.
  • Responsible declaration of compliance with the requirements of Article 13 of Law 38/2003.
  • Bank account certificate of the mother, father, or guardian of the student.
  • Invoices accrediting the expense, with the concepts sufficiently clear and described.

Applications and documentation are submitted at the General Registry of the Cabanas Town Hall, Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 14:00 hours, or through the forms established in Article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 30, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations. Invoices must be issued in the name of the mother, father, guardian, foster parent, or responsible person, and failure to comply with the obligations may result in the suspension of payment or the reimbursement of the grant.

For the families of Cabanas with school-aged children, the call for applications represents direct relief in material expenses in the context of a recently started school year, and reflects the municipal effort to maintain equality of educational opportunities among the students of the municipality.
