Córdoba announces eight positions for Local Police sub-inspector.

The Córdoba City Council has announced the permanent provision of eight sub-inspector posts in the Local Police, as career civil servants, through a competitive examination in the internal promotion round. The rules were approved by the Deputy Mayor for Human Resources and Occupational Health by Decree No. 2026/13604, of August 7, 2026, and are published in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Córdoba number 156, of August 13, 2026, Local Administration section (edict BOP-A-2026-2832).
The posts correspond to the Public Employment Offers for 2023, 2024 and 2025 and are endowed with the remuneration of Group A, Subgroup A2, extra payments, three-year seniority bonuses and other emoluments. The process involves total expenditure of €248,608.82 for the 2026 financial year, with credit in Accounting Document No. RC 12026002176, following the report-proposal of the Head of the Selection and Training Department and the favorable audit review by the Intervention Office.
Positions and budget
The eight vacancies on the civil service staff belong to the Special Administration Scale, Special Services Subscale, Local Police Class, and include the positions from the employment offers with the following codes:
- OPE 2023: position 413.
- OPE 2024: positions 410, 422, 425 and 426.
- OPE 2025: positions 3077, 3078 and 3918.
Requirements and applications
To participate, it is necessary to meet the requirements of Rule Two, which must be maintained throughout the entire process:
- Be in active service at the Córdoba City Council or in an administrative situation with the right to participate through internal promotion.
- Have served, for at least two years, in the immediately lower rank in the Local Police of Andalusia corps as a career civil servant.
- Hold a qualification as Doctor, University Master’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, Technical Engineer, Technical Architect, University Diploma, or equivalent.
- Have no final disciplinary records for serious or very serious offenses and not be in second activity, except in cases of pregnancy or risk during breastfeeding.
Applications must be submitted electronically through the municipal electronic office, within twenty business days counted from the day following the publication of the extract of the call in the Official State Gazette.
Selection process
The system combines a competitive examination phase, a merit-based phase, and a mandatory training course:
- Examination phase: a 100-question questionnaire, with at least 5 reserve questions and a penalty of one quarter of the value of a correct answer for each error, plus the written resolution of a practical case; a minimum of five points is required in each part, and at least three hours are provided.
- Merit-based phase: non-eliminatory, it represents 45% of the total score (scale of up to 120 points, equivalent to 8.18 points of the process), with sections for academic qualifications, languages, seniority, and training.
- Training course: a minimum of 150 hours at the Institute of Emergencies and Public Safety of Andalusia, accredited schools, or municipal schools of the Local Police, with an exemption for those who have already passed it.
The Selection Board shall be composed of a president, a secretary, and four members, all career civil servants, with their respective alternates, and shall ensure equal opportunities for both sexes.
Legal framework
The selection process is governed by Law 6/2023, of 7 July, on Local Police Forces of Andalusia, and by Decree 8/2026, of 3 February, regulating entry, internal promotion, mobility, training, and the unified selection process for the Local Police of Andalusia, as supplementary to local government legislation. The edict, signed on 7 August 2026 by the Head of the Selection Department, Soledad Fernández Abella, also provides for the publication of the extract in the BOJA and the BOE for the purpose of submitting applications.
The selection process strengthens the command ranks of the Local Police of the capital at a time of consolidation of the municipal public employment offer. The filling of these eight positions through internal promotion opens career prospects for officers of the force and will condition the operational organization of citizen security in Córdoba in the coming years.
