Por FactBox Admin

The Cáceres City Council has opened the public information process for the free transfer of use to the Mapfre Foundation of a municipal building located in the Plaza de San Jorge, next to the city’s monumental center. The announcement, signed by the general secretary, Juan Miguel González Palacios, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres (BOP) no. 0210, corresponding to November 3, 2026, in Section I of Local Administration, with the official reference BOP-2026-5120 and file PAT-CES-0006-2026. Interested parties have a period of fifteen days to examine the file and submit claims or allegations.
Legal framework and object of the transfer
The publication is carried out in accordance with the provisions of article 110.1.f) of the Regulations on Assets of Local Entities of June 13, 1986, which requires the public information process in cases of the transfer of use of patrimonial assets. The intended beneficiary is the Mapfre Foundation, with CIF G-28520443, which would receive the free use of the municipally-owned property identified as building E-00051.
The property is registered as a Patrimonial Asset and not as a public domain asset, a condition that enables the transfer of use provided for in the announcement.
Seven premises, cafeteria, and souvenir shop
The building described in the announcement has a rectangular floor plan and a single story, comprising seven premises along with several annexed buildings. The distribution of uses is as follows:
- Five of the seven premises are designated as a cafeteria.
- The remaining two correspond to souvenir sales premises.
- The annexes include the interior courtyard and an auxiliary building located within the enclosure.
- The access passage to the Ulloa Garden is also included.
- The complex is completed by the restrooms located under the access staircase to the Church of San Francisco Javier.
Surface area, boundaries, and origin of ownership
The announcement sheet specifies the dimensions and the registry origin of the property. The registered surface area is 237 square meters, while the actual surface area is estimated at 195.52 square meters. The cadastral reference of the property is 6328501QD2762G0001PG.
The detailed boundaries are as follows:
- Front: Plaza de San Jorge.
- Back: property at calle Rincón de la Monja no. 2 and the Garden of Dña. Cristina de Ulloa of the College of the Society of Jesus.
- Right: College of the Society of Jesus.
- Left: Cuesta del Marqués street.
Regarding the registry data, the property is recorded in Volume 745, Book 214, Page 128, Estate 10486, 2nd Entry. Municipal ownership stems from an exchange formalized in a public deed authorized by Joaquín Ros Alférez in Cáceres on December 3, 1963, and registered on May 13, 1989. The original registry description refers to a courtyard with an attached house and a garage, corresponding to numbers one and three of the Plazuela or Cuesta de la Compañía, and already warned of the poor condition of the buildings, which was taken into account “primarily for the purposes of the exchange.”
Processing and effects for residents and visitors
The file may be examined during the open period of fifteen days, and any interested party may submit in writing the claims and allegations they deem appropriate before the transfer is formalized.
The operation affects a space of daily use in the surroundings of the Plaza de San Jorge, one of the areas with the highest tourist traffic in the city, where locals have been providing cafeteria and souvenir sales services next to the Colegio de la Compañía de Jesús and the entrance to the Jardín de Ulloa. The free transfer to a private entity of national scope transfers the management of these uses to the Foundation, therefore the public information period is the only open avenue for citizens to raise objections before the City Council resolves.
