Bergondo opens housing and energy aid for vulnerable families
Por FactBox Admin

The Bergondo City Council is opening the application period for financial aid of up to 300 euros per month for the payment of the primary residence and up to 400 euros for energy consumption costs. The Local Governing Board approved the guidelines in the ordinary session on September 10, 2026, and the announcement was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña (BOP) number 179, on Friday, September 18, 2026, with reference 2026/5984. The aid is aimed at the most vulnerable families in the municipality.
The call is processed under file 2026/A002/000007 from the municipal Secretariat and bears the signature of the mayor, Alejandra Pérez Máquez, in Bergondo on September 11, 2026. The text justifies the measure based on the socioeconomic consequences of the current crisis, which are distributed unequally across the population and increase the levels of poverty and social exclusion of the most vulnerable groups. The objective is to support the payment of energy consumption costs and the primary residence.
The call is retroactive, meaning that the justification of payments must be presented along with the application, and the payment is made via bank transfer to the account indicated by the holder of the rental contract or the mortgage loan.
Requirements and income limits
Beneficiaries may be natural persons of legal age who meet the following requirements on the date of application submission:
- Have Spanish nationality or reside legally in Spain, in the case of foreign nationals.
- Be the holder, as a tenant, of a rental contract or a mortgage loan for a home located in the Bergondo City Council.
- The home must constitute the primary residence of the applicant and their household unit, with a minimum registration (empadronamiento) of six months.
- Be in a situation of economic vulnerability, understood as 2025 income for the household unit that does not generally exceed two annual IPREM amounts (16,800 euros).
This limit is extended to three annual IPREM amounts (25,200 euros) for large families, single-parent families, those with elderly dependents, those with disabled dependents, foster families, and victims of gender-based violence. Income is calculated by adding the general and savings taxable bases from the 2025 personal income tax returns of all members of the household unit; exceptionally, those whose income has decreased by more than 50% may request that their current situation be evaluated.
Excluded are persons who own or have usufruct of another home in Spain when applying for rental aid, or a second home if they opt for mortgage loan aid, as well as those who have a first or second-degree relationship of consanguinity or affinity with the landlord.
Amounts and compatibility of aid
- Housing payment assistance: up to 300 euros per month, never exceeding the monthly amount of the rental contract or loan, for a maximum of three monthly payments in 2026.
- Energy consumption expense assistance: up to 400 euros, for a maximum of four bills referring to 2026 consumption.
- Both grants are compatible with each other.
- If the credit is exhausted, the priority of granting and the determination of the amount will be decided by the lower result of dividing the household income by the applicable income limit.
Deadline, submission and resolution
The deadline for submitting applications runs from the day following the publication of the call summary in the BOP until October 31, 2026. Applications, according to the official model, should preferably be submitted electronically through the municipal Electronic Office; for in-person submission, an appointment is recommended at the municipal Registry, via telephone at 981791252 Ext.2 from 09:00 to 14:30 hours, or at the address cita.previa@bergondo.gal.
The required documentation includes the application (annex), a photocopy of the DNI, rental contract or mortgage loan, 2025 income tax return, bank account certificate, bank proofs of payment, and the corresponding responsible declarations. If the application does not meet the requirements, an amendment will be requested within ten business days, in accordance with article 68 of Law 39/2015, of October 1. The resolution will approve, reject, or declare the non-admission of the aid and will indicate the amount and the subsidized monthly payments or bills.
The measure comes in a context of pressure on family budgets and expands the municipal protection network to the lowest incomes in Bergondo. Interested families must gather the documentation and submit it before October 31, as the available credit conditions the order of granting.
