Berga subvenciona amb 24.713 euros el transport d'estudiants postobligatoris

The Berga City Council will allocate up to 24,713.47 euros to subsidize transport for young people pursuing post-compulsory studies outside the municipality during the 2026-2027 academic year. On September 10, 2026, the Local Governing Board approved the regulatory bases and the call for these grants, which are published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona on October 26, 2026 (file 6730/2026, CVE 202610158367, pp. 1-8).

The bases establish a non-competitive concurrence regime: there is no merit scale or scoring system; instead, the total amount is divided equally among all applications that meet the requirements. The stated objective is to facilitate citizen access to post-compulsory education and prevent the lack of transport from becoming a cause of early school leaving during the transition from compulsory to post-compulsory education.

The funding comes from a grant from the Provincial Council of Barcelona, within the framework of the 2026 Catalog of the Local Government Network Cooperation Plan 2024-2027, for the educational mobility support program. The municipal agreement authorizes the expenditure charged to budget application 06 32001 48001, SCHOOL TRANSPORT GRANTS, of the 2026 budget, and specifies that the expenditure is not recurring.

Requirements: young people registered in Berga studying outside the municipality

Natural persons who meet the following conditions may apply for the grants:

  • Be registered as residents in Berga.
  • Be between 16 and 29 years old at the time of application, not exceeding 29.
  • Be enrolled in a public, private, or subsidized center for intermediate or higher-level vocational training, baccalaureate, university studies, postgraduate or master’s degrees, special regime teachings, PFI-PTT training, access courses for vocational cycles or university, or GESO.
  • The training must involve in-person attendance outside the municipality of Berga and have a minimum duration of one school year.

Non-presential or distance learning and training conducted at a center located in Berga are excluded. Applications may be submitted by the beneficiaries themselves if they are of legal age, by parents, legal guardians, or persons who have custody of the minors.

Up to 600 euros per student and proportional distribution

The individual amount will be determined proportionally based on the applications received and may in no case exceed 600.00 euros per beneficiary. The granting is limited by the budget allocation, and the competent body may declare the call void or not exhaust the planned credit.

The grant proposal is prepared by the Education Department and the resolution is the responsibility of the mayor, Ivan Sanchez Rodríguez, or their delegate. All applications submitted within the deadline will be examined in a single procedure and resolved in a single administrative act, which will be notified to the interested parties within a maximum of 10 days from approval. The aid is compatible with other subsidies, but the total sum cannot exceed 50% of the expense incurred by the applicant.

Application deadline and documentation

The submission period is from October 5 to 26, 2026, meaning it closes on the same day of publication in the bulletin. The application is processed via a general instance to the Berga City Council, either electronically or in person at the OAC, and the following must be attached:

  • Photocopy of the student’s DNI or NIE and, if they are a minor, that of the legal representative, with proof of kinship or guardianship.
  • Certificate of census registration (volant d’empadronament) or authorization for the council to consult it.
  • Documentation proving enrollment in post-compulsory studies.
  • IBAN certificate of the student’s or legal representative’s account.
  • Declaration of being up to date with the Treasury and Social Security and a commitment to comply with the subsidy obligations.

If the documentation is incorrect or incomplete, the City Council will request a correction within 10 business days; if this is not done, the application will be considered withdrawn. Payment will be made in a single installment by bank transfer once the grant has been resolved and justified, and the guidelines provide for reimbursement in case of non-compliance, in accordance with the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17.

The agreement is relevant for families in Berguedà with children studying elsewhere: transport is a fixed expense of the school year and the aid has a cap of 600 euros which, depending on the number of applications, may fall below this figure. The text also reminds that future calls will depend on the budget availability of each fiscal year.
