Railway areas in Bremen released from railway operational purposes

The Federal Railway Authority (Eisenbahn-Bundesamt), Hannover branch office, issued a public notice on August 28, 2026, regarding the release from railway operational purposes in Bremen. Six parcels of land on route 1740 Wunstorf–Bremerhaven in the section from km 122.360 to 122.540 are affected. Legal Basis and Procedure
The release is carried out upon application in accordance with Section 23 of the General Railway Act (AEG). The Federal Railway Authority, Hannover branch office, is responsible and has reviewed the application for the release of the mentioned parcels from railway operational purposes.
The Affected Parcels
All six parcels are located in the municipality of Bremen, district (Gemarkung) Vorstadt, plot (Flur) 4. The area sizes range from 69 to 325 square meters:
- Parcel 4 1/144 – 69 m²
- Parcel 4 1/148 – 272 m²
- Parcel 4 1/149 – 153 m²
- Parcel 4 1/145 – 325 m²
- Parcel 4 1/150 – 182 m²
- Parcel 4 1/151 – 71 m²
Who May Submit a Statement
Those requested to provide a statement include railway undertakings, the bodies designated according to Section 1 Paragraph 2 of the Regionalization Act, the responsible bodies for state and regional planning, municipal transport companies, and the affected municipalities. Railway infrastructure companies are also included insofar as their infrastructure connects to the railway infrastructure affected by the application.
Deadline and Inspection
The application documents can be inspected at the Federal Railway Authority, Hannover branch office, Herschelstraße 3, 30159 Hannover, during office hours. Prior appointment is requested. As part of the statement, there is an opportunity to present suggestions and concerns that speak for or against the release.
The statement must be submitted to the Federal Railway Authority at the aforementioned address within a period of one month following this publication. The notice bears the file reference 58149 - 581pf/030-2026#020 and was signed on behalf of Topci-Agal.

With the release from railway operational purposes, the areas are released from the dedicated use for railway operations and can be allocated to other uses in the future.
