Por FactBox Admin

The Badajoz City Council has approved a decree modifying the rules of the call for the provision, as career civil servants, of six Local Police Officer positions, through a merit-based competition system in the mobility shift. The correction is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz number 160, dated August 21, 2026, under announcement 3341/2026, and corrects errors noted in the rules published in BOP number 152, dated August 11, 2026.

The call responds to the mandatory reserve limit of 20% for the mobility system established by article 55.4 of Law 7/2017, of August 1, on the Coordination of Local Police of Extremadura. The positions, vacant in the municipal staff, are classified under the Special Administration scale, Special Services sub-scale, Local Police class, Basic or Executive scale, Officer category, belonging to group C, subgroup C1.

Recipients and requirements

The process is aimed at officers from other municipalities in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura who wish to transfer to the capital of Badajoz. Applicants must meet, among others, the following requirements:

  • Be a career civil servant in a Local Police corps or staff of any municipality in Extremadura, with the category of Officer or Chief Officer.
  • Have remained in active service for at least three years in the same category at the originating City Council.
  • Hold driving licenses of classes A2 and B.
  • Not exceed the maximum compulsory retirement age and have no criminal record for intentional crimes.

Deadline, applications, and fees

The deadline for submitting applications will be twenty business days, counted from the day following the publication of the announcement in the Official State Gazette (BOE). Applications shall be completed through the form enabled on the City Council’s website or its electronic office, and the examination fees amount to 9.02 euros.

  • Special category large families and job seekers who prove their status will be exempt from payment.
  • General category large families enjoy a 50% discount.

Assessment of merits

The maximum score for merits will be 10.25 points, distributed across several blocks:

  • Professional experience: up to 4.00 points (0.025 per month, maximum 160 months in the Officer category).
  • Continuous training: up to 3.00 points (0.001 per hour, maximum 3,000 hours).
  • Family grouping and reconciliation: up to 1.50 points.
  • Academic training: up to 1.00 point.
  • Teaching: up to 0.50 points.
  • Decorations: up to 0.25 points.

In the event of a tie, it shall be resolved by the highest score in professional experience, continuing education, work-life balance, qualifications, teaching, and decorations; as a last resort, preference will be given to the gender with the lower presence in the Extremadura Local Police workforce when it does not reach 40%.

Relevance of the call

The modification of the rules opens the door for officers from across the region to apply for a destination in the capital of Badajoz, reinforcing the municipal workforce within a mobility framework regulated by Decree 64/2022, of June 8, of the Junta de Extremadura. The positions not filled by this shift will be added to the next open competitive examination, ensuring that the six vacancies are eventually filled. The decree is signed by the acting mayor, José Antonio Casablanca del Barco.
